Laine and Matthews both with 50 points now, last Canucks rookie to score 50 (not named Bure) was Trevor Linden. Gotta draft high to get those kids! - LeftCoaster
Linden was 2OA to Modano & lost the Calder to Leetch |

I didn't say they were better...I said we need more regardless of how they are rated. How many of the top 15 of this draft class do you figure are an upgrade on Megma or chapoo? - Bullfrog77
That's setting the bar high
Anyway, we need more young prospects. Just tempering the impact of this TDL to that. |

What's you're alternative? Keep the old dead weight and draft less young talent? We've got a little wiggle room ...we may be able to get under Colorado next year...if we keep this high octane team we have now |

There is none....all we can do is trade what we have for youth and picks or live with the old busted model. Like I said before...we're in a poop wasteland . Do the best you can now...get as much young currency going forward and buckle up for our bottoming out, that's coming real soon. |

What part of what I said was dismissive of drafting youg talent? By the way you keep saying this phrase a lot. So what old "dead weight" are you sending off in this TDL?

Hansen is the only likely player of value for a TDL move & its not easy at that to pull off. Next up is maybe Sbisa & lastly Burrows. Tanev in the offseason for a top 6 scorer would be one my best choices. |

Yes those are the likely candidates. What I wanted Bullfrog to explain was who was "old dead weight" that could be moved at the TDL. He uses that phrase a lot. Sounds like the country club phrase. Interesting on perspective of players don't you think? |

In the nhl your odds are obviously much higher, I'd suggest you can count on the lottery helping you. But that's my take. You can't JUST rely on the lottery, but you can use it as a tool to help rebuild. - LeftCoaster
Like it helped us in the summer? We were counting on it helping us. We fell two spots.

I'm not a GM...I can't move anybody. Everyone on this sight is well aware of who the dead weight is, we debate this poop all day everyday season after season. Move what you can...if it's only Burrows Miller and Hansen at the deadline...fine good start I say. Before the draft try and move some more again for picks or younger entry level type guys. Maybe a Tanev Edler or Hutton type move. I'd spend the summer trying to talk the sedins into retiring or offer to buy them out. There are only two players on this team I wouldn't entertain offers for....Horvat and the Bear. Any other deal rolls up that I could parley into pieces I like for the future...I would do. |

Fair explanation. Sounds like you are advocating a fire wagon tear down. Move everyone, except two players, for draft picks and prospects. Buy out the rest. Well you did say you weren't a GM. |

You know how the tear down rebuild works out. Stay crappy until you land a generational savior. There is a Mcjesus waiting out there for the faithful. Just a lotto win away. Then raise up all the amassed lost young losing players into believers. After that the team is on its way to greatness. Text book. |

Id kinda have to agree with that.
Another possible scenario is that JB becomes prez and Futa takes over some of the Gm duties |

Sven is alright...but not untouchable. If he needed to be added to a deal it wouldn't be the end of the world. Easily replaceable. |

If Laine and Matthews were here they would probably be solid 20 pt players on WD's 4th line behind Magma and Chappoo |
