Player Y could be an early 30's type veteran that can be a 4 guy that can move down to the 3rd pairing when Guhle is ready.
The hard part of course is finding that top pairing guy with Risto. - Stripes77
For player Y, perhaps Dennis Seidenberg? He's older and is a lefty, which may negate things, but I believe he has played well this year at a bargain rate.

Problem is they are routinely trading guys out. It's worked, but they also won 2 cups before they had most of their cap locked up in a few guys/ - sbroads24
They were talking about this on WGR yesterday morning (which I don't normally listen to, but yesterday I did for some reason). The Blackhawks only have six guys that were on the team through all of their cups: Kane, Toews, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson. The question for the Sabres is, assuming they get to that level of "great", is Evander Kane good enough to be part of a core that you lock up for big money? If not, you absolutely have to move him.
Right now, however, to me, there are two players on this team that are "lock up at all costs" worthy: Eichel and Ristolainen.
