Oh for sure...the bane of the Oilers existance ( sorry,I thought you meant Pullijarvii not MPS). dont think for a second that I think the Oilers did a good job with their rebuild. It has been terrible. After 10 years of suck and 7 years of actually rebuilding they are finally getting somewhere...and it took winning the best prospect in a decade to do it. The list of Oilers managements poor decisions is a mile long.

But to say the Oilers should already be a dynasty is sillyness. Even if from the day the picked Hall forward they did every single thing right they might be a playoff bubble team.Too few assets to work with .

The issues began 5 years earlier than that even....but Christ, if you corrected every mistake made by any team in the league over a 13 year period ( even the Sabres) you would have a Championship calibre team.

I watched him only on two separate shifts: good speed but no ability to create things on his own. Bailey is a man amongst boys out there. At this point it seems a little insulting to send him down

I think the point with the discussion was, how many teams even have a 1st overall pick? Oilers had 4(!) Which should make them good just straight away. The other teams with a first overall pick, how are they doing?

I think they sent him down so he can keep the legs moving. I could see a call up for Colorado, he played very well with 90 & 21 last thursday

Colorado is horrible, The Islanders suck. Tampa is having a terribel year.. But seriously...what does a first overall pick garauntee? There are weak drafts and awesome drafts. The 2011 and 2012 drafts were garbage. The Best players from those drafts would maybe go 7th or 8th in the 2013 draft,for example. It would be a different story if the Oilers actually got the best player available like you suggest, but how often does the top 10 actually become the same top 10 5 yrs later in hindsight?

So lets look at your excercise:

Would a team consisting of Taylor Hall, Klefbom, Marc Scheifle(?), Jacob Trouba, Risto, And Draisaitl be all that poop hot 5 years into a rebuild?

In 113 games, Evander Kane has 41 goals and 26 assists (67 pts), hes missed over 60 games since the trade from Winnipeg and some people wanna give him 7 million?!? You can make the "he's never had a center like Jack" arguement, then who's to say another winger can't benefit from the same thing? If they don't move him I'm fine with keeping him for a playoff run, but that doesn't mean he couldn't bring a nice piece in at TDL or an off season addition if, IF he hits 30+ goals (which would be the 2nd time in his career).
