as i edited my post this could show that Sbisa to a contender might be worth something.

i think Tanev and Hansen to the Oilers makes sense as long as we get JP and some picks , it gives the Oilers a chance this year to go on arun with McDavid and they may not get as many of those as they think with the cap years ahead

Hainsey sucks and is a horrible teammate. Yet he got a 2nd?
I can't wait to see Benning pick up two first round picks.

As I said in my post, there's good players taken through the draft, Hutton is an example of that. From my perspective you need star players to win, thus my wanting them to draft as high as they can, because the majority of them come from there...not all, but the majority.

Boston won a Cup by picking impactful players like Lucic and Marchand in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, you can throw Krejci in there two. Those guys were major contributors to their success, not the only ones but a part.

In the salary cap era building thru the draft is more important than ever, I think Benning realizes that and you're going to see him go that way...hopefully.

Bang on I'd say. 3rd rounders that become 4th liners or 5th rounders that become 20-20 guys. Everyone helps. Just can't expect every prospect taken to become an NHLer.

Not sure if this was posted yesterday but I'm scrolling thru Twitter

As per @mattsekeres, Jannik Hansen provided his 8-team list to the #Canucks yesterday.

Trade Center going to be boring. I wonder if sooner or later they just cut it to the last 2 hours.

I have a feeling Benning does his deals early for Hansen and Miller, then waits to last minute for Burrows.

All quiet on the Alex Burrows front but the #Canucks and Burrows did talk this week about a deal that would make sense for both sides.

Thanks for the post, one thing though regarding Hansen, "From a pure hockey point of view, Hansen would be a nice add for a playoff team—he has good speed, good hands" Hansen has no-hands he will be known to me as No hands forever.

Reubenkincade's got a Stanley Cup ring?
- bloatedmosquito

No I don't have a Stanley Cup ring.
But I work off of facts not BS stats.

Here is another one just for the tank crowd

Of the top 50 rated nhl players (nhl.com Sept.2016), only 17 were top 5 picks. That is 34%. 1 player was taken in round 8, 1 player in round 7 & 2 players were free agent signings.

So this BS about the majority of the best players come from top 5 picks doesn't seem to work in reality.

Francis is doing things right over there.

Aho, Faulk, TT, Gauthier, Roy, Hannifan, Fleury, Mckeown and now a bunch of picks. Selling off Hainsey for a 2nd is a incredible move, Even with retaining salary. Those are the moves Jim Benning needs to make.

He can continue to patiently rebuild because I'm sure he doesn't feel the pressure in that market like Benning feels in Vancouver. Patience and accepting the process of rebuilding is the key.
