I think so.
what sucks is even though they lost Florida lost and still only sit 3 back of a wildcard. I know the odds of making it are low but the illusion of being close sucks. But you never know.
My dream scenario is they move some of the pieces they can and maybe one or two pahntoms who are ready enter the lineup and they go on a little run and make the playoffs. - J35Bacher
that dream scenario has peyote written all over it!
I kid. I kid. |

Ready to sell G after a struggling for half a season? That's the leash he gets? Talk about fair weather fans. SMH
Do you remember what he did last year to put the team in playoffs? I do.
How many times has he admitted he was hurt during the season? Never.
I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for another season.
And even if you do trade him, you don't trade the heart and soul of your team to the Avs so he can rot away on a rebuilding team for rest of his career. What would that say about your organization to other players? The Flyers just don't do that. He would go to a playoff team IMO. - Richard_wilderness
His numbers have been declining and this was his first solid game in how long. I don't care what he did in the past. he was compensated very well for that. My care is what is best for the Flyers. not for Claude Giroux.
Also the Flyers have traded many players since they have been established. And you only hear good things from former players about how great the Flyers were to them.

My Game Observations:
- Giroux actually looked engaged and better. Showed some energy.
- Couturier line looked good. Sucks that the first goal was overturned. but that line moved well and was creating chances.
- 3rd line I barely noticed last night.
- Provorov and Gostisbehere looked good. Manning had a rough night at points.
- Flyers created some chances. The Capitals are just better. Their talent was able to capitalize on chances.
Does this mean we can stop referring to him as Vinny 2.0? |

Unless they get an offer so good they can't refuse it, Gostisbehere should be pretty close to an untouchable. - MJL
A change is needed it can't be a quiet off season. If the Leafs could trade Dion and that contract Hextall should be able to move anyone

I work on a game by game basis.
Vinny had a couple solid outings too.

Hate to say it, G has looked disinterested often this year. As a Captain that just can't be. That's why there is the trade talk. Could he rebound, sure. Will he is the bigger question. Last night he was engaged but the team was just overmatched.
The first goal getting reversed was bad but then them thinking Provorov scored when he didn't only made matters worse. Along with the crappy elbow call on Coots that ended up in a PP goal. It was just too much for them to overcome. |

My loyalty is to the emblem first, and the players second. We saw what happened to the Phillies by letting loyalty and fan pressure get in the way while they held on to Utley, Howard, and Rollins way past their primes. And allowing better players to go in trades and FA because they couldn't afford them.
I love Claude, and I really hope he is hurt. Otherwise he is a one dimensional PP specialist, and that don't cut it for 8.5 million a season. |

The same GM that traded VLC to LA and Timmo to CHI is going to trade G to the Avs?
I don't see it.
Do you disagree that his play last year carried this team in to the playoffs? If not, it admittedly tailed off THIS year. If your relying on the play of a single player to get you into the playoffs, how can you blame that player? |

It's a tad dramatic and early to compare Giroux to Vinny even if it's a game by game basis. |

First : Giroux has a NMC and I doubt Colorado would want him.
Second: Last year has no bearing on this year. I look at Giroux's play and it is declining. First it was numbers but now it is actually the impact he has on games.
Third: No it's not all his fault. Many guys need to step up. But a lot of the guys I think can get back to a good level are guys that are younger and I see them slowly turning it around. Schenn has played pretty well. Couturier looks better each game now and his line with Voracek is showing a good pairing. Gostisbehere is playing better.
Lastly: A lot of things impact a team. The problem I have is with over an 8 million cap hit Giroux can't just be a role player. His decline looks bad right now. He has no burst and stays to the perimeter a lot. He isn't going to get fast or stronger with age and will be 30 soon. |

It's my opinion.
I do feel sometimes that people are a little clouded in judgment because they have a fondness for the player.
I rarely get attached to a player so I might be a little weird. I care what is best for the Flyers. Players are mercenaries to me. |

Disinterested haha, what? If anything he looks frustrated as hell and ready to blow his brains out. I'll never question his heart. |

Well in my opinion, that comparison is equivalent to the idea of exposing Giroux for Vegas. Wanting to trade Giroux is one thing and I'm not against the idea of it, but comparing him to Vinny is just ridiculous. |

You didn't question his effort when he lazily back checks in a game or makes terrible turnovers?
So his play is because of everyone else is not good enough? |

What did he have one or two bad backchecks in 60 games? Creative players make turnovers, happens when you try to make something happen. |

I understand that.
But his turnovers weren't from being creative. They were blind passes in the defensive zone. Low percentage plays. That's unacceptable for a veteran player. Creative player or not.

I hate video challenges and think they're ruining the game, but I have to agree the correct call was made. The contact may have been incidental but it wasn't slight. It was clearly a push that put Holtby out of place and unable to get back to make the save. |

I agree. It was correct.
I think it's funny the league complains about scoring being down but have a system to remove goals.
I just hate the fact that you never know what is contact and what isn't. I have seen some I clearly thought should be overturned and then weren't |
