April 15, 2000 and April 12, 2012 returned that call.
Look, humans are imperfect and the occasional mistake will be made. But egregious mistakes are very rare. Video review to try to determine if a player was a millimeter offside or to review a play to try to subjectively determine if there was some kind of interference is a silly waste of time. - Scoob
The technology probably exists to do this.
Lets say the NHL implements sensors and an automated system to blow a whistle to signal an off-sides or icing. Its completely accurate and eliminates the need for video review. Would you be against this since there's no human element? |

I get that Hextall should do whatever's best for the Flyers and agree with that.
My comment more has to do with how quickly the fans of turned on him. It's not even about trading him for some people anymore. It's about exiling him at the risk of him being some massive albatross. - Baxter27
It could be an albatross.
He hasn't played well and his numbers are declining. I don't think the Flyers thought his decline would hit this fast. Maybe he does rebound. But I don't see him getting bigger, strong or faster with age and he was already average in those categories.
Fans have a loyalty to the Flyers. Players get paychecks to do a job. |

I'd be 100% against it.
Hockey is a game played by humans and monitored by humans, in real time. It should remain that way.

I’m even luckier today. New gear arrives every few months, not as a ritual of professional extravagance or elitism, but rather a necessity. After several months of constant use against the hardest shooters in the world, foams contained within goalie gear starts to break down rapidly. Because of this, I usually receive a new blocker, glove, and pad set 2-3 times a year, depending on playoffs. It’s generally accepted – although not mandated – that AHL goalies will receive at least two sets of gear per season, while those in lower leagues might receive only one. Once you reach the NHL, however, things change. If you need or want something – especially if you’re the starter – a new piece of gear is only a phone call away. Goalies routinely rotate 2-3 sets of gloves at one time, and some even have home and away helmets. Regardless of the level you are playing, professional teams are responsible for the cost of all equipment.

Why would it be an albatross...the Flyers wont be up against the cap for a few years
Waste of time to consider trading Giroux at this point. Shouldve been 2 years ago or it should be in 3 years |

I somewhat agree. My order of my preference:
1. Humans
2. Computers
3. Humans + video replay |

You're proving my point. It took half a season for fans such as yourself that Giroux is in this steep decline and we should get rid of him. That's without any knowledge of what's happening behind the scenes. I have no doubt that Giroux has past his prime and he's had a rough year. That doesn't mean he's some infected limb for the Flyers to lop off. He can still be a valuable player for the Flyers for years to come. |

THey are looking for NHL ready D, a pick, and a prospect for one of the two of Landeskog or Duchene. (Reportedly). So, how much for both? We need scoring clearly. And if G has run his time in Philly, would G, Gudas, one of : Sanhein, Morin, Myers, or Hagg , plus a 2nd or 3rd be enough? Provorov is off limits. And Ghost may or may not be. - section32

A change is needed it can't be a quiet off season. If the Leafs could trade Dion and that contract Hextall should be able to move anyone - 3flyerkids
That's the wrong change. It's not about being able to move Gostisbehere. You don't make trades just to make them. |

Me too. I hate to trade any of them, Hagg is probably the one I would be most willing to part with. |
