Its interesting from an insiders perspective as well. He does so much more that doesn't show up on the score sheet. - all-pgh

He helps drive possession and scoring chances. He is good just slightly overpaid for his actual individual production. |

Green at $4.5M Plus taking Fehr's slightly bad contract.
I'm thinking at least a 1st, DP, B-level guy and a mid round pick. - Feds91Stammer
So long term outlook -- we lose our 1st, Pouliot, Blueger, 4th rnd pick for 2 years of Green at a discount....pluse assume we lose Hagelin or Hornqvist in expansion and sign a mediocre FA to replace him
The trade in a vaccuum is somewhat tempting, but the expansion aspect is really hard to swallow.
As a tiebreaker, I'm not sure he slots into our defense that well because he and Schultz are essentially both vying for right side on the second pair... plus Schultz, Green, and Letang cant all play on the powerplay...
I dont think your value is crazy, but I dont think he's the perfect fit for us. |

Absolutely not, green on the 2nd pairing Schultz know the 3rd. It's as simple as that. |

They're good, but look at their competition this year. If this was the CHI team from two years ago they'd be dominating the west. I expect a first round exit from them this year unless they draw STL in the first round. - Rinosaur
I don't expect anything because they have good hockey players. They get into the playoffs and they will always be a contender. |

Give Schultz and Letang the PP time. Green could use the extra rest as he is older. You would have essentially 2 top pairs with Green on your team and he would allow you to deploy Letang even more aggressively. |

That's what I'm saying though -- we are swapping Schultz and Maatta...do we really want Maatta or Cole on the 2nd pair? (im assuming Daley is gone at this point)...
even without daley...thats a $25M defense once Dumo and Schultz re-sign |

Why dont we talk about something we can all agree on...like Fehr for Yakupov... |

Last 15-20 games the Hawks have been VERY good(and all the advanced metrics will agree with this). Most of those games have been on the road with plenty of tough competition(Sharks, Oilers twice, Wild twice, Jets who typically own the Hawks, etc). Earlier in the season i would have agreed with you, but it also says a lot that the Hawks remained a 1st place team despite not playing well for the first 30-40 games.
Since then Toews has found his stride, and a solid 4 line rotation has been set with tons of speed(fastest overall team speed since 2013). Also the defense is deeper and as good in transition as they have ever been in the Kane/Toews era.
IMO this Hawks team makes it to at least the conference finals, because i don't see them slowing down/regressing from their current form, if anything they will improve further. Rookie forwards looking very impressive, and there's still tons of experience mixed in. |

Why was anyone even discussing who among the O and D the Penguins needed to protect? I thought it was a solid, 100-percent, guaranteed, written in stone fact that whichever goalie was left exposed by the Penguins would be picked? |

Unless Fleury Agrees to waive his NMC to be exposed to the draft, they have to expose Murray.
Need to make a trade there before the expansion draft. |

I'm game for a Maatta-Green 2nd pairing and a Cole-Schultz 3rd. - j.boyd919
Letang at 7.25 - Dumo 3-4M
Green 4.25 (hypothetically) - Maatta - 4M
Schultz 4M - Cole 2M
rough numbers...but that seems like a lot of money |

TIOPS stating that the Pens are still looking to add defense: Kulikov and Quincey being targets. Fehr would need to be moved to free up space. Shattenkirk's price still out of the Pens range, but they will keep an eye on him up until the deadline.
There's also another EC team they're pursuing that isn't a seller yet, but will be a seller soon.
Pens also like Brendan Smith. |

Exactly. Either Fleury waives his clause and gets picked, or he doesn't and Murray gets picked. No reason to worry about the O and D. |

I can't see a situation where he doesn't get between $3.5M and $4M. He's a legit top-four dman and in the Pens top pair. |
