Things that stuck out to me last night.

1) Kulikov doesn't have an ounce of hockey sense. He consistently makes the wrong play over and over and over.

2) We are are a really, really, really bad passing team

When this team is out of synch, they look like the bad news bears.
When they're in synch, they look pretty decent.
I still blame this on the coach because if your players cant execute it most nights, theres a problem. And you can blame 23 guys for all sucking at the sme time or one guy demanding they play some complicated system they obviously cant.
I wonder what this team would look like with Babcock coaching them?

Bylsma has a system that builds from the back and counts on defense men who make long, pinpoint stretch passes to generate offense. This team isn't built with those kind of defenders. That, coupled with Bylsma's utter inability to adjust on the fly, is a giant part of our struggles.

By the way, these issues were known from before Bylsma was hired.

I actually didn't think they started that bad last night. They actually had several chances early on (and probably did for the game). The problems are boneheaded plays and horrible zone coverage. It only takes on bad play (Kulikov on Grigerenko, Kane on Comeau) to give one up.

Biggest problem I see is that our defense never joins rushes and they are horrible at D zone coverage and transitioning into odd man rushes

I think we have guys that forecheck aggressively but I don't think we do it well as a team. The ice still feels way too slanted most nights.

It really is surprisingly that we can't get big, fast guys like Kuli and Bog involved in the offense in any way.

If you take the Avs 3rd goal, Rantanen pressures O'Reilly and makes him make an awful turnover, and Barrie is sitting right in the high slot to take an open shot.
