Why did you trade for Kulikov if he "isn't part of the future" ? Why did you trade for Kane only to now look like your trying to trade him?
The guy I would trade is your GM for a more competent one. - sparky
the GM isnt trying to trade Kane. teams are inquiring about him.
Kuli has one more year. Not exactly a "part of the future" contract.

Just heard the #Sabres have an offer to trade Linus Ullmark, and Cody Franson to the #Oilers for Matthew Benning, and a 2nd.... from that sabres insider guy. - Slapjackzack

In the beginning part of last year yes. Since then he's been a typical 50-55 point 2nd line center that we traded and are paying like he's a franchise player.
Love the guy as a player, but he's a passenger.
Guys like ROR, Reinhart, Risto make 1 or 2 plays a game. That's not enough.
Kane (which the other shoe is starting to drop already) and Eichel have been keeping us afloat - sbroads24
Makes you wonder about Murrays ability to evaluate talent. Same is being seen with the Kulikov trade, maybe he works better if he doesn't break his back on the bench door, but I doubt it.
Definitely thought the team was better then they have showed, guess I was wrong. Sad. |

I don't know if $7m is "franchise center" money, but he is considered to be one of the top two-way centers in the league, he lead the sabres in scoring last year and is second only to jack Eichel in ppg this season...
o'reilly's a plus three on a team that struggles 5v5 and he leads all forwards in atoi...
that said, I get what you're saying...he has his moments, but not enough of them...am wondering if his back spasms are still lingering |

I think this is exactly the problem. Kulikov said it was the worst injury he has had in his career. I think several of GMTM's moves on D didnt work out due to injury. It had nothing to do with foresight. Franson, Kuli and Bogo have all had pretty serious injury problems that concurred after we acquired them.

don't forget, Kulikov was at the world cup of hockey while the sabres were in camp...he didn't have much time with his new team...
Kulikov has looked bad...I highly doubt that even murray's worst fears had Kulikov playing this poorly |

True, forgot about the WC also ROR started his season there too and got hurt......
Just seems like TM has a few more misses then he should given the quality pool of murrency he had to use. The more I think on this the more Sboards? point makes sense, the value of the trades weren't all bad but the fact that he no longer had those assets to use now is what is hurting this team. Nothing is wrong with Kanes play at the moment but id love to see what we could get this year for a package of Lemieux, 1st rounder and a legit top 4 dman, hello matt duscene (SP) |

This sums it up nicely. SELL
If we can't beat the 2 basement teams in the league (both playing back up goalies)
We are not a team that needs to stay together.
ROR needs to pick it up. Terrible hockey from him as of late. |

GMTM mentioned about 2 months ago, that the kuilkov situation couldn't be worse.. came in late to camp bc of world cup. Then had an absurdly fluke injury and has been playing hurt ever since. Also mentioned it's been so bad he cant even evaluate his play regarding resigning him.
Imo i liked the trade at first but agree it's been a terrible situation for 77 and the sabres |

And it's on Bylsma to use his lines better. Eichel was motoring in this one and played less than 16 minutes. The top line of Bailey, Ryan O'Reilly and Kyle Okposo did virtually nothing. Rodrigues scored for the second straight game and needs to play for more than nine minutes. |

Not to nitpick, but it's 7.5 and he's top 20 in the league in AAV.
The guy is good, but too many games where he isn't making more than 1 standout play.
They need another guy to be a consistent threat like 15 and 9 have been |

he completely flipped his depth chart...there was a time when the sabres had a decent group of d-men but didn't have much up front, and that includes the center position...
their center position is talented and deep, probably deeper than the drury/briere seasons, and the forward ranks are solid and developing depth...however, it came at a price, and that was the defense, which I assume murray will begin to address further this off season |

Couldn't agree more. Top line can get it done give Rodrigues some more time. The tick tack toe goal he scored was pretty. Great rush by Eichel. Eichel keeps getting better, more confident and his hockey IQ keeps growing. Gonna be great to see a full year out of him. |

If this isn't a damning report on bylsma, I don't know what is.
Dan: "Jack you been killing it tonight 1 g and 1 a, time to take a seat."
Jack: "Ummmmm...What?"
Dan: "All you guys playing like crap, now is your time to shine, go get them."
This teams faliures are not all on dan but he needs to go before there is a serious problem, like an Eichel not resigning problem. |

Outside of the top paring...I only see Bogo as the lone holdover
McCabe - Risto
Guhle - Player X
Player Y - Bogo

I don't disagree at all
Bylsma also needs to recognize that his no. 1 center is Eichel, and his no. 1 line his jack's line...that line should be the first one on the ice, not the third |

Or even when they made the in season firing last year and won the cup months later. A coach has a big impact on a team, even elite teams. |

he's also a right handed shot who played on jacks left wing at boston u...they've tried everyone else on 90's left wing, no reason why he shouldn't get a shot |
