this is what i was getting at. Is there a way we can trap vegas into taking one of those players? Say we protect jake, risto and falk... - yen6d1
yep, if you protect the obvious forwards and those three d-men their "best" choices are the dead weight you're trying to move and Ullmark. |

I'm torn on the whole Evander Kane issue. I love that he's scoring goals. I love the idea of a power-forward. I love that he adds another dimension to this team. But right now our backend is in rough shape. Sadly, Kane is the guy who could possibly change that for us. His value is currently quite high. There are a handful of teams with an imbalance of dmen who need scoring forwards (Anh, Car, maybe Min). I don't see this as being a deadline deal...but in the off-season? If we could swing a Vatanen, or Hanifan. How can you say no?
I like what someone posted earlier on a different thread about the Blackhawks and their "core". If you want to go on a run of cups, you commit to a core, and continually fill the holes around them, because in cap-based league, players are constantly out-pricing themselves on successful teams.
So is Kane a part of that core? I would say Eichel, ROR, Risto and Reino are for sure. We need another dman (McCabe?...I see him more as a good 2nd pairing), and a couple forwards (Nylander? Hopefully.) I don't know if Kane is that guy. I'm leaning towards moving him to possibly find that second dman. We have a lot of potentially good forwards coming up through the ranks that can develop together and change the culture of this team (Nylander, Asplund, Rodrigues, Bailey, Baptiste, Faesching, Pu, Carrier). |

generated some nhl interest, i think he could be a 6 or 7 for us next year. - Sabresfan-365
I will be perfectly fine in signing him but Tim Murray makes me angry when he doesn't try to sign people overseas |

injury to key players like eichel sure but we've seen this team play full strength and still not be very good. I get the blueline has had injuries but two things stick out for me.
a)most of the lapses are mental, just poor decision making.
b) you could easily make the case that we'd be a better team if you took two of these guys out and subbed in guhle and fedun. - Sabresfan-365
I actually think we played OK with falk and fedun replacing any of georges, kuli, franson or bogo.
and im thinking its because they're bottom pairing dmen who just do what they're told. |

Protect:
O'reilly, okposo, kane, Foligno, Zemgus, Larsson, Carrier, Risto, mccabe, Falk and Lehner
That leaves them moulson, ennis, gio, D Lo, Bogo, Gorges
It could work,,, |

I agree with both of these statements (more emphasis on the first than the second). And I suggest that neither of the problems relates to the way the roster is constructed.
With the point being that the finger should not be pointed at the (at best) fat faced alcohol abuser, but rather the players themselves, and the bad system implementer and unable to adjust on the Fly-er. |

GIO's a free agent and you left out Ullmark, who probably would be taken over all of those castoffs |

I agree, but the (at best) fat faced alcohol abuser chose to add these guys at high cost both to the cap and assets.
I honestly cant think of a GM in the last few years that spent so much to get so little out of his blueline. somewhere in the neighbourhood of 16 million spent on defenders who either can't keep up, can't play defence or can't generate any sort of offence above what you could get from someone making 1 mil or less. |

My point is more that Rosen at 6 and >1mil is better than Gorges at close to 4. Will probably bring far more to the table anyways. Its a start. |

If true, good news. I'm not a big Tyrod fan, but, draft Davis in Rd #1 and it'll make Tyrod a lot better. Mahones in Rd #2, if you want to develop another QB and if Mahones is gone before the rd 2 pick, Take Kelly in rd 4 |

LeSean McCoy’s “Buffalo was so special” tweet isn’t a farewell
So while Sunday’s tweet isn’t a goodbye, there’s still a chance that farewell is coming. If it happens, plenty of other teams will be line up to give McCoy

Bills won't vut McCoy. His cap hit of $6m isn't ridiculous. I know the OC is a one gap guy, but, if you have someone as talented as McCoy, you make it work |
