good trade JB and the biggest thing that stands out is he was able to do this without eating any contract money

The signing is bizarre...$2.5 MM per until he is 38 - CanuckDon
2 year extension may seem strange, but I doubt he's there that long.
Ottawa doesn't appear to have used any of their buyouts, so they could play him next year and then buy him out at the end of the season.
I believe the formula is 2/3 of the remaining salary spread over double the remaining term. So he'd get $2.5 next season and then $840K each of the two years after. Works out to $4.18 for next year which is just a bit less than he's making this year.
The deal structure helps the Sens with both cap and budget management now and, if that's what it took to get Burrows to waive for them, then it was simply the price to be paid.
What surprises me more is that Benning didn't have to retain salary this year. He likely would have had to do so to trade Burrows to Chicago. This trade may very well have saved his job. |

If he moves one of Miller or Hansen, JB gets an A in my books. #AboutTime |

Ottawas owner will never buy a player out. Aquilini is an amazing owner next to that cheap skate

I am going to go out on the limb here and add onto Eks rumor Filpula to Canucks.
TB need Dman a and also have to be concerned about signing upcoming RFAs .
Sedin to TB for Tyler Johnsen Filpula and a first. Canucks keep half their salary
Filpula is a bit younger and it frees up cap space. TB get their Dman and don't have to worry about signing Drouin. - VANTEL
Sedin is not a Dman. |

From twitter
Loui Eriksson has 1g over his last 15 games, 32 sog (3.1 sh%) & a 46.1 CF%. Shot attempts aren't even in his favour anymore. #Canucks - VanHockeyGuy

Ever see this? This is awesome... the Celts have the oldest language in Europe. The closest languages to the original Indo/European languages that originally came out of what would be Iran today. Only a couple are separate like Finnish and Hungarian... all pre Aria migration languages are now extinct.

WD must be pissed loosing one of his team captains when he's trying to make a final push for the playoffs.
Huge disconnect between the GM and head coach. |

I have a pretty good chance of that with my grandmother immigrating from Ukraine. They snuck out of the country during Stalin's Famicide in the 30's.

The trade market has been very strange. I thought the Canucks got a great return for Burrows, even Boyle and Hanzal returns were pretty good, but then the Shattenkirk return has me puzzled.
I know he is a rental, but even the conditional 2nd round pick if he resigns there seems shockingly low for such a highly regarded puck-moving defenseman. I think it looks even worse if you compare it to the Hainsey deal. I really have no idea what to expect with a Hansen trade now |

The word consistency and NHL should not be used in the same sentence. |
