He seems to be data driven so maybe he needs to see the data to convince him that wrapping his arms around a fringe Fin is not normal and gone from the Sabres a couple years ago is outside the bell curve.

I believe Kulikov was the best of what he could get on a short term deal for this season for a guy, rightly or wrongly, he didn't want.

in this mindset, i tend to agree but he should have been prepared to overpay to solve one of the holes on defence. There was quite a bit of chatter surrounding pick 8 and Faulk leading up to the draft, for example.

And until it actually happens, i still wonder whether hed commit to paying up using "one of his guys" instead overpaying using darcys assets.
