Please. Just because he played on the top pair with Kimmo doesn't mean he was as good. Sometimes you get slotted where your deficiencies are masked by the strengths of your partner. - dragonoffrost
If Couburn is better, it's not by much. |

Coburn also played with much better Flyer teams.
Gudas played with Streit.
Coburn with Timonen and Pronger. - MikesPillBottle
Coburn was pair with Pronger maybe twice in the three short seasons was here. Coburn played with Grossmann in the 2012 playoffs and helped shutdown Malkin. |

Hearing PHI closing in on extension with P-E Bellemare. Word is two years, $1.45M AAV. I'm a fan.
- JFlyers00
little curious to why re-signing the guy now which means needing to protect him if you want to keep him. I wouldn't sign anyone until after the expansion draft. |

Radko Gudas isn't better than Brayden Coburn. Coburn was a top pair defenseman in Philly for just short of a decade. I'm sure his role has shorten in Tampa as he's gotten older but no, Gudas is not better than Coburn. - SuperSchennBros
Never said Gudas was better than Coburn, but Coburn was never really a 1/2, he just filled that role here...my point is that Gudas is a 3/4 and that is what he plays here...in that transaction Hexy also got a 1st and 3rd...Gudas is filling the role he should on our team and really any NHL team. |

They have different strengths and weaknesses, but they're both serviceable #4 defenders. Coburn played like a good #2 during the 2010 run, when he played some of his most physical hockey. But when you factor in that we got Gudas and a 1st round pick that, combined with a late 2nd, got us Konecny, it was a good deal. |

They like him but if taken in expansion it's not going to kill them. You need to expose players so the signing makes sense. He is a solid 4th line center and pk guy |

It was a very good deal but if the argument becomes who do I think is better Coburn or Gudas, my answer is Coburn. |

I guess it was unclear what you intended with your comment about Gudas when you commented about him being a "cornerstone of any defense"...it seemed like you thought we should not have taken him as part of the Coburn trade...so I will let you clarify if I am mistaken... |

He's a FA.
You need to have roster guys to expose. Guys on contract. If you don't sign him then maybe you have to expose Cousins or Laughton.

There will be no flyer trades. Said this days ago.
No one Hextall is willing to trade has enough value to match hextalls perceived value of said players.
Mark Streit has 0 value - MikesPillBottle

I think Coburn was better, but it's not by miles. He was a better puck mover and skated better, Gudas offers a more physical presence on the blue line with a heavier shot. |

But is Coburn better than the 1st 3rd and Gudas? because that is the apples to apples comparison...with gudas stock still rising and Coburn on the back nine... |

They already have Weise and Read to meet the exposure requirements. I don't see the expansion draft having anything to do with this. |

I would rather just kept King. Seems like a lateral move. |

If Hextall's idea of a successful trade deadline after a mediocre season is focusing on resigning his under achieving 4th line center and back up goaltender...we have some issues. |
