Mason is not getting that much. I refuse to believe it. Between reputation and his season. If he gets 2 years $3-4 mil per, that might be it. And I'd do that in a heartbeat. - Mononoke
I would have too. That bridges the gap with a reliable starter at a decent price. If Stollie stole the job from him, it's no prob as stollie not making a lot. Right now, I think the tending setup is risky.

Why, when you can get just as poor goal tending for less money?

In a bit of defense of Bellemare, how many points can he put up playing 8 minutes per game at ES with a minor leaguer on his left wing. Put him on a line with Leier on the left and some type of FA upgrade on the right and I think he'd probably put up better numbers.
At the end of the day, neither signing bothers me. Both players will be gone by the time this team is contending in 3 or 4 years. - BiggE
That's the thing. We hate VDV more, but they both equally suck. Bellemare was 3C for like 30 games this year and had 3 points playing with top 9 players. He just sucks too. VandeVelde is like the 20th worst scoring player the last 3 years. Bellemare is still 2nd to last. They both are horrible.

Re PEB: I'm cool with the new deal, he's an effective 4C and PKer. Hopefully he'll have some better wingers to play with next season
Re Neuvirth: This is all about the expansion draft. Don't be surprised if he gets if he gets taken, they won't be exposing anyone else that's much better. If he stays, he battles it out with Stolarz for the top spot next year and if he goes they'll just sign another vet to do the same. - BiggE
I want a faster, higher IQ 4th line. I want skill.

The expansion draft plays into this though.
I think they believe Stolarz could be ready. But you'll never know until he plays NHL games. If they can move Mason I think you'll see Stoalrz get a good share of games.
Also I wonder now what Mason's psyche could be knowing Neuvirth got a new deal and he'll be an UFA - J35Bacher
If the expansion draft plays into it, then why a 2 year deal and not just a 1 yr deal to protect Stolarz in the ed?
Stolarz has struggled a bit in the ahl since being sent back down. Couldn't have anything to do with how Hak used him while he was up. Who's to say that won't happen next year?
Mason's psyche will be fine. Got a shutout last night, if played regularly now, will probably carry the flyers into the playoffs to try to get a better deal with another team next year.

Ryan White has 2 goals in 2 games with Minnesota.
Wiese 2 goals in 50 games with the Flyers. - PLindbergh31
I've already had the White vs Weise and Gordon argument this season. I give up. Ryan White is hands down better than both but he's gone, they're here so Weise and Gordon have to be better.
