Would it be a tragedy of Hindenburgian proportions if Manning/MacDonald never played another game for the Flyers? |

Long time Flyer fan and I think Bill needs to at least mention how boring this team is to watch - no identity, too small, too slow and painful to watch. - Dktj53
Too Small? 0.6" shorter and 1lb lighter than your defending Stanley Cup Champions. Yes I know they are 30th in avg height and 28th in weight but size isn't always the answer. Everyone was screaming for 5'10" 175lbs Travis Konecny to make this team now we got to get bigger??? Can we make up our freaking minds? |

Then pick one of those franchises to root for. Since you feel this one is so "inept". |

according to Ek's people that would be a really dumb thing to do |

lol what? - YuenglingJagr
Feanor's reasoning for not signing Del Zotto that i replied to was that 5 defenseman were already under contract next season. I don't think its necessary to consider Manning one of those 5. He's going to be 27 next season making 1 mil, and other than his hot start this season he generally looks like a borderline NHL player. He can easily be on the phantoms next year. |

Very, especially when that pick goes from a 4 to a 1 if they win the Cup and we all know Hansen won't be the key to that happening.
As much as being out of the playoffs and a possible seller stinks, the saving grace is that it's almost always a seller's market. Vancouver has made 2 really nice moves so far IMO. - five4fighting10
I think Vancouver has done well on both moves.

I would love to see all of the UFA skaters go and one of our UFA goalies get traded as well (preferably Neuvirth). However, the fact that Hextall hasnt done anything yet might mean that either he can't get value, his potential trade partners already filled their perceived needs, or he's just not willing to give up on this season yet.
I think you're right about Schenn and Simmonds. The "big" sort of trade, involving the likes of a Schenn or Simmonds would be more likely to happen right before the Draft. - Doc_Sarcasm
I think Streit gets moved. Maybe Mason too. That's probably it though. |

I don't think Hextall will do that. They are viewed as everyday defensemen by Flyers management. More so than MDZ. |

There isn't anyone in this draft that is on the level of Kane, Crosby, McDavid, Matthews, Laine Etc. So tanking this year is a crap shoot.
I'm not sure tanking next season is a good idea either as there will be hell to pay, from the owners, if they miss the playoffs two years in a row.
Dump the UFA's for picks that you hope you find a diamond in the rough. Call up some kids and see what they offer. Next year hopefully Lindbolm starts with the Flyers and maybe some more youth joins the current core. - dragonoffrost
Hate to brake it to you, but it's only 50/50 he even leaves Sweden next year. |

Any thoughts that the Flyers might try to get picks in the 18 draft vice the 17 draft with the UFAs? they already have 10 this year, and unless they can bundle some seconds to move into the first for a guy they really want, they might get more value out of 2018 picks... |

he is an ideal 6/7/8 defenseman and one that satisfies rules for expansion draft (not that AMac is getting traded or anything). It won't hurt the team much, but there's very little reason to waive him |

It's much higher than that. An NHL ELC will be much more lucrative than staying in Sweden. |

I don't want to get into a spat with you know who about those guys, but they certainly wouldn't stand in my way if I felt the younger guys were ready to start logging NHL minutes. |

I would like a little more size. But not at the expense of skill. It's kind of why I like a guy like Dwight king in FA.
But the first thing this team needs is more skill added to the roster. |

I have already stated I think they could target 2018 picks. I think more than likely it will just be a conditional pick based on how far they get in the playoffs, but any multi-pick deals I would expect to have one in a future draft |

If they get too many 2017 picks they can always trade up. |
