I mean really guys. Why bother getting a few late round picks and needing to call up AHL D? If nothing was out there, nothing was out there. You know Tim loves trades. You know he tried.
Little irked as well. But whatever. - TheSabresTaco
You just said picks were out there. |

Or, again, nobody was making deals today. Look at the guys left on the board that are UFA that could've gone cheap. Vanek only went for a conditional 3rd and a warm body and he has 38 points. Iginla for a 4th and Colorado retains 50%. You're telling me that 5th or 6th we would've gotten for our UFAs would've been worth something? - Wetbandit1
Im willing to bet they could have gotten something in the weeks leading up to the deadline. |

I kinda get keeping Kulikov. But Franson? - Losman
Franson, to me, is like Tallinder back in 2013-2014. They couldn't give him away. |

Not really. If you couldnt acquire a 2nd, there was no point in moving anyone. |

Colorado could LITERALLY get nothing for sending Iginla away AND paying half his remaining salary too.
Damn you TM, why couldn't you make genius moves like this!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

All I know is that we are a really bad team, and it's the GM's job to make them better.
Extra picks down the line would help replenish the system.
I find it odd that he couldn't muster up a 3rd rounder in 2018 for one of them.

Maybe, maybe not. But again I point to the lack of deals overall. And outside of Hanzal, they were all "that's all he got?". |

not trading them to being with, is the joke. I wasnt expecting anything big. The expectation as a seller is you sell. he couldn't even manage that. Part of it i imagine may be him waiting too long to believe he was a seller. - Sabresfan-365
You're so right. This team would be so much further ahead with additional 3rd or 4th round picks for Kuli or Franson. Can you enlighten us about how great you thought that one shot block Risto had in that one game the other night was? He's a real difference maker. |

Yes, worth selling. Ghule could finish out the season in the NHL, get a little experience, bring one more up from Amerks. Our season is done. Franson and Kulikov will not be resigned by the Sabres so again YES a 5th or 6th is worth it. |

Found out players that were asked about:
Franson
Kulikov
Reinhart
McCabe
Girgensons
Foligno
Bailey
And a not so very smart GM calling about Risto.
I said 50 times he's not moving Kane but got a couple calls but nothing close to moving him. - SABRES 89
No biggie.... Just more work to do in the off season... he's gotta find a way to make this defense better, without giving up the farm.

I'll say it again...it is a possibility that GMTM is ok holding onto these guys because he can still make trades with Vegas at some point.......just playing devil's (not NJ) advocate |

All Vanek got was a 3rd. And he actually matters to a team. Kulikov or Franson are bottom pairing/depth guys. There are no 3rd rounders for Mike Weber this year. There just aren't.
Murray could very well have made the team better by not trading Kane for not fair value(top pair D).
And again, I doubt a 4th or 5th or 6th round pick is going to help this team at all, let alone in the next 5 years. |

The statement made to the team>>>>>>> the 0.00001% chance a 4th rounder develops into anything.
If a 2nd wasn't on the table, no sense in moving anyone. |
