Anyone who thinks that 3rd to 7th round picks are worthless needs to realize that NHL teams have AHL affiliates and you want to build a winning culture from the bottom up.

Those late round picks aren't for anything other than depth and the off-chance you get a steal in a late round. You stock your minor league with them.

Just look at all the depth and picks GMTM has traded the past few years and look at the mess that is Rochester and tell me late round picks are useless.

Also, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lundquivst, Simmonds, etc.... They aren't useless.

I just don't see how the D can be fixed this offseason? We really have no ammunition, other than Kane/Reinhart/Nylander. The FA class is sad looking, and besides Guhle we have no one who seems to be anywhere near NHL ready in the D pipeline.

I know I'm the sky is falling guy, but here I am, hopefully overreacting and underestimating GMTM.

I still think Murray's doing a good job acquiring talent. The disconnect is somewhere between the players and the coach. Bylsma's milquetoast personality doesn't exactly scream "leader of men" to me, and the players probably need to suck it up and actually follow the system. Idk, i think Bylsma gets 15 games next year and then gets the boot

For the last 13 years the 4th and 5th rounders have done nothing to replenish the Sabres or Amerks cupboard nor build a winning environment and I'm not about to think that legacy is going to be drastically swayed by the potential 4th or 5th rounders the Sabres could've acquired by trading Kuli and Franson.

Oh, I'm all for that, depending on the Dman.

Total mess. For an old guy this is getting awfully tiring. They better win the lottery and dump some of this garbage in the off season or fans will think twice about forking over their hard earned money.
