I guess the air quotes didn't do it for you. "Stars" in the traditional sense like the Oilers and Canadiens who were the only other teams to win the few years before and after and were mostly stacked with star players. FFS. My only concern with that is what it does to the young guys on the team, creating a culture of losing.

But at the same time, I realize that's more of a myth than anything.

I doubt they'll be able to catch any of the teams that high up, probably somewhere between 6-10th pick imo. Heiskanen, middlestadt and makar are decent options but first choice should be trading that pick in a package. Likely be the last opportunity they have to trade for a d-man without destroying the pool or moving a core piece.

My only concern with that is what it does to the young guys on the team, creating a culture of losing.

he did 2 impact trades right away, panic mode looking back


kane is playing really well, but if he doesn't stick around after next summer it's a blown trade. plus they got the worst of the d men from the jets


ror is playing ok, but IMO he is not a number 1 center and should either be moved to the wing or dropped to second line playing 18-19 minutes a night

only bright spot, Lemieux is struggling in ahl

The process of bottoming out and rebuilding works, however GMTM may have sold too many draft picks for the assets we acquired.

We're on the Edmonton timeline now. Not as bad as them, but we'll always be no higher than ranked 20th out of 30 teams at this rate.

So we kind of shot ourselves in the foot. We would have been better to bottom out and get the higher picks. So we're basically back where we started but worse...

TM basically said he got a few calls about Kulikov, stated what he wanted, heard "that's fair" and got questioned about his health. Does not really mention Franson. Said he got one call on Gionta and Gio does not want to leave Buffalo. Said he got a couple of calls on Kane but nothing worth considering.
