This further emphasizes the dead weight problem, which ties mostly to the defense.
How much, if any, of the dead weight they can get rid of, will directly tie to their chances of success next year.
Not that I think Franson is dead weight nearly as much as Kulikov, but those 2 not returning is a nice start. Add in even one of Ennis (sad to say as I liked him as a player), Bogo, or Moulson and you are 50% of the way there.
I left Gorges off the dead weight list because I think he is fine for one more year as the 6 or 7 D man at just under $4M. Not ideal, I understand, but for one year, it's doable. - kingcong39
If they could find a way to move bogo
and get a top 4 rd
I am fine bringing franson back for the bottom pair with guhle
I do not want bogo and franson however as our second and 3rd right D men

The bigger worry with gorges is the coaching staff may choose to give him ice time over guhle.

I agree. Being that his contract is up after next year, he's at the bottom of the list of guys they need to get rid of. I'd put Bogo at the top of the list. I was patient with him, but I'm over it at this point. He can't stay healthy and when he does get back into the lineup after his injuries it takes him 15-20 games to finally get back up to speed and not look a step or two behind every play. I'm really hoping that Murray is smart enough to not protect him in the Expansion draft and that somehow Vegas is dumb enough to take him. |

Pominville's last two contracts 10 years 54.5 mil.
If he were ROR age, he'd be in the 7 mil range.
Unfortunately it's the way the sports world works. - dadeadhead
I think as the team gets closer to the cap and competitive
it's essential to have a few value contracts of vets

Its unreal. Bylsma is an awful coach and i hate the hire from day one, but the roster composition has actually made feel sorry for him/come around to him. Its THAT bad. |

I could not agree with this more. Deadweight. Time to move on. Might not be easy to get rid of the contracts but they are hindering the youth. Then again, the cupboard is bare with ready to play NHLers so don't want to rush the kids when not ready. I don't know why the waiver wire isn't used by GMTM...some quality finds in my couch potato opinion. |

As the clown mentioned, if the bottom pair is Guhle and Gorges, that is fine.
If it means Guhle will be out of the lineup, that would be unacceptable, but with how much it appears they like Guhle, I can't see that being the case.
From everything I've heard and read, Murray has a clear picture of who needs to be gone and what needs to be added.
It's only a matter of if it can be done without a major change to the roster regarding something nobody would like to lose. |

Time to move on for better players.
GMTM needs to make moves at the expansion draft, the Entry draft and FA.
If we go into next year with basically the same team and expecting a different result, then you're joking yourself. |

I think we are putting way too much stock into a 20 year old 2nd rounder with 3 NHL games, and I like Guhle. More than likely he finds himself in and out of the pressbox during his rookie year. |

I really just don't get this.
Murray is at the podium yesterday basically grinding his teeth because he couldn't get rid of the guys he was scheduled to get rid of, but we're sitting here saying we're concerned he will go into the year with the same guys? |

I saw some people talking about trading Reinhart for a top2 D earlier. 1) Should we consider trading Samson? 2) Does he even fetch a defender of that quality? - Pierceme69
No. Reinhart was taken second overall when he is diaplying second round talent at best. |

Remove Gorges from that group and the real scary part is all three of them will be on the books through the next two seasons with Bogo another season after, unless they are somehow able to offload them. |
