I am concerned because the problem on the d is
bogo (murray traded for)
franson (murray signed)
gorges (murray traded for)
kulikov (murray traded for)
now I will say this
I am fine bringing back franson for the bottom pair if they can rid themselves from bogo and get a solid RD for the second pair - homiedclown
As far as Franson goes...
I don't see a scenario where I want him back
He's played ok, but I don't see him as part of the solution
Too slow, way too slow
He's got a decent point shot on the PP, but we don't really use him there
Right now,
I'm going under the assumption that we'll be stuck with Gorges & Bogo
IF we can get rid of Gorges,
I'm ok with Guhle on the 3rd pair
Eventually,
Guhle should play his way ahead of Gorges if we can't move him
We probably can't get rid of Bogosian,
So it's important to get a 2nd pair RH defenseman to keep him on the 3rd
Bogo has played well at times,
So I'm hopeful that he can find his game again
But if he's with us next year we need to shelter him
Most important thing for me is us getting TWO top4 defensemen
Gotta get at least 1 at the expansion draft
And then if we can't get a 2nd one through trade,
We might have to go all in for a guy like Alzner
I know some don't like him, but UFA options are limited

It's irritating that this team should be only 2 points out of a playoff spot right now |

Im indifferent if they make a run or not at this point, ill root for it. I'm patient right now because this offseason should make or break murray. The expansion draft could be a blessing in disguise.
I hope if they are going to be stuck with gorges they dont bring Franson back, find a dman who can skate to take those minutes. Also pray that Vegas takes bogosian and murray can find a way to get a real #3 or better. Need Guhle to make an impact in whatever role he earns, maybe resign kulikov and hope he's healthy because I think he's a better player than what we've seen this year.
They need to rid themselves of deslaurier and Moulson. Get Bailey, Baptiste, and carrier mixed in from the getgo and you have your influx of speed. Lastly have a healthy eichel for 82 games, it would have made a difference this season no matter how little.
I'm disappointed they aren't better now but i still think they will be OK. I'd still really prefer a different coach going into next season, but I don't see that happening yet. |

Last night was frustrating as hell.
Too late, we beat the kind of team we should have been beating a year long. So it doesn't feel all the positive to see the win, and makes the losses all the more frustrating. |

Agreed.
Im at the point of I'm not sure what is better for this team. Start to gel and get some wins and finish just on the outside, or go in the toilet and draft as high as possible. |

Pretty soft draft for a tank. |

The tank is dead to me. We got our top players. Finishing the season with a winning record is more important, especially when considering we havent done that in like 5 years. It may not feel like an improvement, but that would be progress |

This draft isn't worth tanking for, or at least it appears that way. That being said, I don't think this team will "gel" any more than it already has. This team is what it is: mediocre. Play your best cards and see what happens. This team needs 2 or 3 more significant pieces to be a contender anyway. They will also need to "gel" with this team. |

Don't tell that to the kid. He's still trying to dump Kane because he won't sign here. |

Which is why a tank might be smart. Outside of the top 8 or so players, a fairly significant drop off takes place. |

If the Sabres traded Kane at the deadline, I am 99.9% sure the vast majority of us would be disappointed in the return. His value won't be high, if it ever is, until after the summer when all the side crap goes away. |

I found it pretty interesting that Ray mentioned that one of the keys to the game yesterday was that they needed to trust one another and have faith that their teammates were going to be where they were supposed to be throughout the game.
We had actually discussed that very same thing on here after the Nashville game when Lehner's best Hasek impersonation was an epic fail. |
