This is the biggest factor IMO. If it goes up 3-5MM over the next 2 years I see no issue. If it does not. big issue. - ImThatGuy
Agreed. I have a sense it will go up but it won't be a lot. If it goes up say $2M for 17/18 and another 2-3 for 18/19 there is enough of a bump where Murray can get his business done with Eichel, Reinhart and Kane. He also has Carrier, Bailey, Fasching and Baptiste to re-sign as well.

I think Vegas takes a chance on either Bogo or Ennis if we leave both exposed. Buying out Moulson next season saves us 2.2 million on the cap next year and 1.2 the following year. 19/20 and 20/21, he's about 0.83 on the cap. I can't imagine a BO this summer unless we're really that tight to the cap with a new defender. - TheSabresTaco
We have $24M in cap space at the current cap number for next year and have to re-sign Lehner, Girgensons, Foligno, Rodrgiuez and Larsson. If Vegas takes one of our bad contracts we'll look even better to upgrade the D.

This. Especially when your centre is jack eichel, it wont be hard to find a guy who can replicate that level of production at less cost. - Sabresfan-365
Oh really. We have been looking for one forever. We have one and you want to move him ?

Except he's played just as much without Eichel this year and has still produced there. So not sure why this whole "playing with Eichel" thing keeps getting brought up.
He actually started his hot streak when he was dropped down to the 3rd line.

Side note, his numbersr with Eichel and without Eichel are drastic.

Im not saying kanes production is a result of eichel. Im saying it wont be hard to find a winger who can pot that many goals because he'll play with eichel.

if Kane won't sign an extension, I would think about it
I would rather have a second pair d man and a pp qb in return for kane than a second rd pick (deadline trade) - homiedclown

No way in (frank) he gets us a 2nd. But I get it.
Right move is to see where the budget is at after July 1st. Figure out extensions for the pair, talk to kane's agent. If there's no way to keep him, trade him before the season. I wouldn't roll into next season without knowing he'll sign.
