An ideal scenario that could play out for us....

We get say 3 or 4OA probably.
Patrick Hischier go 1 & 2.
If Liljgren is gone instead then its a no brainer at 3OA.
3OA or 4OA is a dividing line in ways.
Leaves maybe 3-9 off the top of my head:
Liljgren
Mittlestadt
Vilardi
Tippett
Necas
Tolvanen
Glass

Now considering the teams around us down to as far as 8-9th does anyone see trading down advantageous if another asset comes back?
What asset would that possibly be?

More food for thought to my post above...

A big trade moving a D could alter the draft plan to allow an easy BFA selection.
So Tanev say for who?
Blue chip prospect or in a package for eg Duchene
If prospect who is targeted?

I dislike the idea of trading down, especially considering where this team is at. I can understand the sentiment more if we were in the same situation of the oilers a couple of years ago.

Trading down would be my tactic if he is JB's boy

Ok but is this draft so deep that its not that drastic?
Supply me your top 10 & our probable overall pick.
We can discuss opinions then.

I'll be surprised if any team takes him at 3.

Who was the last impact player drafted out of the Czech league?

Same. JB won't trade down.
He'll put that pick to good use.
I say liljgren with the 4oa.

What's his story as he seemingly came out of nowhere?
0.35 ppg in the men's Czech league....good WJC numbers though...

It's idiotic in a draft where there will be huge volatility in teams ratings of players. Benning needs to take his first choice when it's our turn.

Those are the same reasons why Kopitar wasn't drafted higher out of Slovenia. But I guess he was at least playing in Sweden's 2nd division..but I doubt that league is miles ahead of the league Necas is in.

It seems to keep coming down to that as a highly possible result.
I've no probs selecting him but then i want a vet D definitely traded.

I loved him in the WJHC..apparently he sucked in a U-18 tourney this past month but there isn't much video of him in it up on YouTube yet so I'm waiting to see how he looked there.

I think that same volatility will tame any trades up top.
On the otherhand the talent is so similar after the top 4 IMO.

In 2004 Swedish second division wasn't scouted the way it is now. He missed the cut by a week too. Same as Patrick this season.

I have a hard time believing that being Slovenian and playing in the 2nd division in Sweden wouldn't hurt him a bit today as well if he was entering the draft now.

I could see calling those comparable leagues but Kopitar was more impressive and still is an outlier as far as those types of leagues go.

Necas might end up being unreal but like the past few yeara, it's really important we can hit on our first round pick and I'm wary of the unconventional pick....... Insert but you like Mittlesatd here....

Edler tanev
Guds stretch
Hutton tryamkin

I'm good with that.
