Geez dude.
I stated my top 4 earlier & Necas is not in it.
Next i said we get a top 4 pick.
Did i say i trade down blindly? No
Use your imagination is all.
JB fields offers then when our pick he chooses his man.
5 pick on he watches & waits for his chance if the player he really wants is there.
If say Necas then he calls in any offer he had set up or makes one when his phone buzzes off the hook when he put the word out he might trade for the right deal.
If none of that happens nothing is lost & its moot.
All i'm getting at is pre-draft options will be explored by JB u can bet on it. - Nighthawk

From Friedman's 30 Thoughts:
1. One year ago, Trevor Linden was a frustrated man. The Canucks’ president of hockey operations saw his organization come under tremendous heat for trade deadline inactivity. This year? “Very different,” he said Wednesday. “Much better feeling.” He admitted the last couple of weeks were strange for him. “We are undergoing a significant transformation. I remember being in the dressing room when Alex Burrows walked in for his first regular-season game.” The best thing you can have is volume. Not all of your picks/prospects are going to work out. But the more you stockpile, the more of a chance you have.
Adding Jonathan Dahlen and Nikolay Goldobin to your pool is never a negative. Linden was in the meeting earlier this week when the Canucks laid out their plans to Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. “I didn’t expect anything different from them than what happened. We talk to them regularly throughout the year. They are such good people. I think they understand where we are and where we are going to.” The Sedins are eligible for an extension July 1, but Linden said that did not come up. “They have told us they will decide year-to-year. Everyone knows we want them here as long as they want to play.”
2. Did the Canucks — at their recent organizational meetings in Pittsburgh — ever consider trading Alexander Edler and/or Chris Tanev? “Those were great conversations,” Linden answered. “We considered all our options, looked at everything we could, put everything on the table. At the end of the day, with the youth we have on our defence, we decided we must have people who can steady the ship. We placed a high priority on that. Don’t put players into situations they are not ready for.” That’s a reason they are considering keeping Ryan Miller. They want the best possible goaltending behind them
3. Linden added no one should expect Vancouver to be a significant player in free agency. “Loui (Eriksson) was a unique opportunity. His relationship with Daniel and Henrik…through the Olympics in 2010 he knew and liked the city. I don’t think that’s the way build this team now. We’re more in the market for ‘bridge’ support, shorter term.”
4. Finally on Vancouver, their biggest victory this year may come from internal growth — the likes of Sven Baertschi, Markus Granlund, Bo Horvat, Ben Hutton and Troy Stecher. But when asked if there was someone who has come furthest, he didn’t hesitate. “The guy who has surprised me the most is (Nikita) Tryamkin. Fitness, nutrition…he decided to totally buy in. I didn’t think I would see it this quickly. You have to credit our strength and conditioning staff, our veterans…He made an impressive commitment.”
Finally. |

8.5% for 1OA is slim.
Say we get 3OA somehow then who does anyone like?
Me its damn hard to decide on Mittelstadt & pass on Liljgren.
Need makes me lean to pick Casey barring trading down.
1st i take calls to get overpayment if a potential trade.
The team who wants Liljgren most i figure would set the price.
Which team 5-8 interests us for a package kinda deal if any? |

Granlund is a huge deal. Great vision. He is only going to get better. He was way off my radar and I will admit I was a little irritated with losing Shinkaruk but goddam JB made a hell of a deal with that one. If any of these most recent deals work even half as good as the Granlund trade we are in good shape moving forward. |

For me, Mittelstadt's a no-brainer because he makes the likelihood of Virtanen (and/or Dahlen/Boeser/GoldenGoblin) reaching their potential that much higher. We need that type of highly skilled playmaking Center to maximize those investments. |

I agree the kid has done well given his opportunities, he earned them. I didn't expect him to do this well at all. |

Yeah, I'll happily eat crow on that one as well. Neither player is going to be some core player, but Granlund has been a hell of a lot more useful so far than Shinkaruk. He's been better defensively than I thought he'd be as well.
Safe to say the age gap has been filled now though, time to stockpile picks and hope to hit a couple of homeruns. |

True. Really lack playmaking centers in the entire organization, there really isn't one outside of Henrik, who's a dinosaur now. |

That was at least the 4th time Stecher has bailed out Edler in this game. |

Team needs a new look . I am hoping we suck the rest of the year and 3 Swedes and a Goalie request to waive to go to a contender. Throw Tanev in there too - VANTEL
A new look?!?! There is no one left - we don;t want to be the Oilers for 10 years. |

I would take Michael Rasmussen before I take him. Not because he is a BC boy mostly because I have seen him play and he is big, can skate and score. His game is very well rounded. |

Interesting. I'm not super high on him, I feel like he's one of those guys who has inflated stats because of his size/speed combo advantage over a lot of his peers. I'd have him ranked more around the 10-15 range. Not someone I hope the Canucks end up with unless it's by acquiring another 1st rounder. |
