The Sedins carried this team for close to ten years. They deserve the respect. - pker2theend
I think their paycheck demonstrates that. |

Ya....I guess you're right. It's not like I don't appreciate and respect what they've done and meant to the organization, I do, it's just that I sometimes get the sense that Linden asks them if it's "ok" to move forward with a rebuild. |

Sure, but what has this organization meant to them. If it wasn't for the Canucks they probably would have played most of their NHL careers separately. |

It's Nico or bust I say. Patrick maxes out as a second line centre.....the rest, well, meh...... - chompsey
Not sure where you saw he is a 2nd line center. Havent seen anything saying that. Everyone is saying he plays like getzlaf. |

I understand that they have one more year and if they decide to stay so be it.
The team with all their mentorship finished 24 th four years ago 28 th last year and are 28 th this year. I think the mentorship is overblown a bit. Not only that but Burrows Twins and Edler provide leadership for a whopping 23.5 mil per year as opposed to a team like Columbus who provide Hartnell mentorship for 5 mil.
As someone said yesterday you can find leadership at a much cheaper rate. - VANTEL
Sedins looked pretty dejected that Burrows and Hansen were moved. I'm really hoping this changes their attitude towards maybe accepting a trade next year so we can recoup some assets. They have the ability to see what's happening.
Linden said earlier this year a rebuild here would be unfair to the Sedins...well Trev good to see you and JB are on board with what needs to happen ad hopefully aqua-feenie now too. Still they most likely retire here but I would like to see them get another shot at playoffs on a third line somewhere. |

There was a lot of people calling Granlund a bust in here when the trade went down. You are just a rare case of someone admitting it rather than flip flopping on it. Kudos.

I hated the trade at the time. JB made me look bad on that one |

Bo looks like he will crack the 20 goal mark and Granlund doesn't look to far off. That is good news.
I think Sven and Sutter will be close.
I think with another year under their belt Bo Granlund Sutter and maybe Sven will all pass the 20 goal mark.
The reason I say this is because it looks like WD is starting to realize the Sedins are not effective and awarding better opportunities to the new crew.
Someone said last night we don't want to be like the Oilers. I would hate to fall from 28 th and all this mentorship be gone with no one to guide us to 27 th . Check our last 4 years rankings and you may discover that we are the new Oilers without the number one picks.
This so called mentorship is an anchor not a positive.
When I look at the players that leave here and regenerate their game it proves how suffocating a style we play with the predictable perimeter game we play focused on two players.
I swear when they leave I will be doing a happy dance down Granville. - VANTEL
Just traded away the only 2 players that showed up nightly, you won't find that in most kids. Not to mention that the canucks just lost players that knew what they needed to do nightly. I don't want them replaced with skilled players. Team is in desperate need of someone with snarl especially in the top 6. |

Really fortunate they were able to get that extra pick to acquire them both. A bit of luck and good timing for the Canucks. And everyone says we don't have any luck. |

I believe it was the sportsnet guys who are starting to compare him more as a Tavares type of player, but i mean either way would be a huge win to have him on the canucks |

I honestly hate the idea of putting a young kid with two slow forwards that pass mostly between the two of them.

Linden just wants to include them in a partnership way , so as not to have them feel left out and to have them be apart , mentally, of the challenging times ahead.
on another point i really think in these final games this year we have to look at playing them on separate lines. Their mental game is still as good as ever but the body lacks and having 2 slower players on the same line is a lot harder to make up for in the NHL now then in the past.
we are out why not try it for a long test run

Which is preferable for remaining games this season:
1)slow earn every minute of ice time development by new and young guys. Start on fourth. Prove defensive worthiness.
2) play in as many high end offensive situations and minitues with support of veterans remaining placed on line. Such as spit the Sedins.
3) just use as many young guys as possible in a sink or swim game in and out long look. Play vets minimal time or sit out if extra bodies. |

I think Benning is catching on but Linden with his love for everything Sedin is a bit much. He's too close to some of the players, which holds back the organization...or it can. - LeftCoaster
Agreed. Benning is learning to be more coy but Linden needs to get out of the truth tree and STFU. |

They need a coach that isn't like them. Someone who will tell them that this is how you play and this is how you WILL play or you will sit. |

I'm a lot more onboard with Benning now than I ever have been. I don't know what dynamics have changed within the organization, but there's definitely been a shift. |

Linden made a lot of enemies as president of the nhlpa. It's a thankless job, but I bet there are a lot of people that were unhappy with his leadership there. |

I don't think mentorship is overblown, its a general lack of talent, currently throughout the organization. There's a ton of teams that have or are about to have a bunch of aging vets with combined expiring contracts eating up 20-30mil of the team cap, LA, Ducks, NYR, Chi - Its not just us, I'm just happy its only a year away from a fresh start.

If they have high end skill like Nico or if someone JB really likes drops, then i have no problem. But I am really hoping we can add/draft some size/physical types in the draft this year especially at forward.
A positive though is that both Gaudette and Lockwood play a Hansen/Burrows type game. |
