Crawford was on 1040 this am saying how Dahlen has had multiple offers to go up to the first division but it was his father Ulf who kept him in a lower tier for the purpose of development and to be a first line player and get the heavier minutes than be a third or fourth liner in a tougher division but get less pressure to perform

I'm a lot more onboard with Benning now than I ever have been. I don't know what dynamics have changed within the organization, but there's definitely been a shift.
- LeftCoaster

I think the 'shift' is the Aquilinis backing down and letting Benning do what he should have done a couple of years back.

I believe it was the sportsnet guys who are starting to compare him more as a Tavares type of player, but i mean either way would be a huge win to have him on the canucks
- phyllee

Im excited to finally add a top end prospect for the first time since the sedins. Top 5 pick will really help this year. As mentioned earlier we need a game breaker on D or a center and the top 5 ranked players are just that.

If they have high end skill like Nico or if someone JB really likes drops, then i have no problem. But I am really hoping we can add/draft some size/physical types in the draft this year especially at forward.

A positive though is that both Gaudette and Lockwood play a Hansen/Burrows type game.

- mauryballstein

They do but it still takes years to learn to play that way consistently. Usually more journeymen or career 3rd, 4th liners.

Linden made a lot of enemies as president of the nhlpa. It's a thankless job, but I bet there are a lot of people that were unhappy with his leadership there.
- Scooby_Doo

He is too honest and as Lefty has pointed out he has too much emotional attachment to some remaining players. Hard to be objective when your buddies are still playing on the team you are president of.

Hopefully Van gets him signed and he plays middle six in Utica. I'd have no problem with him playing another year in Europe if he does gets a chance to play more minutes in the SHL.

After reading his comments this week, I think the quicker we get rid of the sedins and edler the better for that reason.

Detroit had a kid line too back in the day. That said, they had a helluva group in front of them doing the heavy lifting!

Sedins will retire after next season as Canucks. They will go back to Sweden and raise their kids. Maybe play elite league for a couple seasons.
Edler will have one year left, and would then likely accept a trade.

This team is 4-5 years away from being a top tier team again.

I would suggest this is a pretty accurate timeline. It's fluid though, one kid can change that in a hurry or four bad drafts can set it back four more years.

We need a first overall pick. That would really really help. Despite what dumbass dragon says.
