I see a Sedin loophole coming - retain double the salary for one Sedin( enough for both of them) and then Bettman will institute a twin rule on salary retention and retroactively penalize the Canucks for twice as long as Luo
- 69Mach1

What I see - and not saying I agree with it - I see Sedins getting a one-year extension in the summer at a cap friendly hit so they can retire as Canucks and so the TDL does not put the Sedins directly in the spotlight.

If we're in full on rebuild mode and Loui Eriksson is expansion draft illegible, why not expose him?

No way!
you are out to lunch (ham sandwich).
He would leave a gaping hole in the lineup.

Meh a 3c is easily found in the summer especially with an extra 6m free in salary. We can get a player that does exactly the same things as Sutter does (maybe less goals) for a whole lot less ( his contract is 6x6 i think?). I personally Think Sutter and Edler should be the next trades for this organization, like at the next TDL or next summer. I get the need to be competitive, but this team isn't substantially worse with Hank/Horvat taking more draws....

If you decide he is not part of the future in Canuckland, why not trade him at the draft instead and get something big for him. Regardless, he had a crappy first year with the Bruins and his worst year in Dallas was his first. He will improve his numbers next year.

Don't think you can expose player's with an NTC/NMC, they automatically count as a protection.

Sort of a Dorsett-esque fight there, no?
Didn't exactly lay a beating.
Happy to give the kid a shot tho.

- dbot

No, but glad to see him go after Tkachuk.

If we get a waiver wire Dorsett that would be awesome but I have my reservations. I do know that sucks fans are upset they lost him so that's something I guess.

He has to be protected unless he agrees to being exposed(he won't). How often do you see teams moving guys after 1 year into a 6 year deal?

I want him gone as much as everyone but it's probably not happening this off-season.

yes.

One of the stay at home D should be available...either Tanev, Guds, or Sbisa.

I don't know who any of those Winnipeg players are...so

I assuming that's sarcasm

Only NMC need to be protected unless the player waives.

Correct. NMCs are exempt from the draft unless they agree to be eligible. But still he has a point, why not just expose one of these players with nasty long term contracts? would anyone really cry if we lost a Sbisa/LE/Sutter? I wouldn't personally, having that salary available leaves JB with way more interesting options, and I doubt Vegas would pass up on a Sutter/LE type player, regardless of their term (I assume they are probably just going to be trying to make the cap floor this summer)

Lefty, tell me more about being a bully. The other night, you are cracking off about my education and calling me names all on your own... I knew sharing why I had to leave school on this board might draw out a classless act or two but I was surprised you are the only one so far. If I hit a wall in our arguments, I wouldn't reach down that low. I couldn't finish school because of the abuse at home... and at times we didn't even have a home. How many people here lived in a car at times when they we 11 or 12? I guess that will be the next thing you target when you can't win an argument... shame me for the poop out of my control when I was a kid.

I know you don't share much on here... but imagine if cracks were made about the complications your daughter may have in life from her injury for example... I was nothing but supportive like everyone else on here... I wouldn't pick that scab.

You and bloated need to get this poop out of your system. People are bored of it if you hadn't noticed. You've been as stubborn and arrogant on your opinions as anyone on here. Somehow, only the people sticking to their own opinions are arrogant. Glass houses.

I had no idea you left school. My comment was an off the cuff harmless jab. You take this Internet thing way too serious. I have no clue about your life except you like fishing.

I'll stick to hockey with you because you seem rattled and obviously have a better memory than me.

do you guys think any of your D will be available for trade and if so which ones? I'd like to see the Jets make a deal for a D and move one of Petan, Dano, Copp, Armia or even Raslovik or Connor
- Ross77

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sbisa shopped prior to expansion as he is the most likely to be lost during the draft.

I really hope Hutton isn't available. Would be fine with trading any of the others
- NorthNuck

You guys traded McCann and a second for gundy, the jets could match this easiky with something like petan and second?

I don't know why, but I don't see JB passing that up....but I doubt Gudbranson is traded, I could see Tanev going before him ( if we're talking righties here).... they just resigned Gudbranson and he hasn't played a ton of games for the team yet so I don't see him being moved until at least next summer, if ever

That'll be a tough sell, even if a GM likes him as a 5/6 dman. 3.6M cap hit, requires protection and you'd have to give up something to get him.

Makes more sense to just sign a guy in free agency at a cheaper cap hit and not use up a protection slot on a 3.6M bottom pairing dman.

That'd be a deal I'd do personally, but if Benning really believes in Guddy as a top 4 dman then I'm guessing he'd say no.

If you need a hug come to the Leafs thread
- twiztedmike

For me, the Leafs thread would be facebook. I'm from Toronto so I have no less than 40 rabid Leafs fans I have to deal with. One of them is a street scalper at the ACC... need tickets? I'll set you up... he's easy to find... the big scar that goes ear to ear on his throat... my fault. Tell him I sent you...

Expose Sutter. Easiest way to shed that contract.
- Crazybagoham

can we expose you?

think about this - if they did that, with Sutter gone. After next year, with the Sedins, and maybe Edler and Miller gone, Eriksson would be the oldest "VET" on the team at the tender age of 33.

I think it would be similar to the recent Oilers of having a team thats "too young." You gotta have those mid-vets to help teach the kids.

But really is Sutter/his contract really a problem?
In the grand scheme of things, its (contract) is not that bad for a guy thats a great leader, excellent two way centre, puts up 30-40 pts and at 28 with 4 years left, he'll earn the term before he declines too much.

From Lebrun's TDL recap:

Now, having said that, I still think Tampa will trade one of its top-six forwards this summer in exchange for a top-four defenseman, if at all possible.

Depending on the expansion draft fallout, I wonder if JB will still think they have good depth and be looking to add, or if they will keep developing kids...
