And we were angry the Sabres didn't trade for Eddie Lack.

Did we get Olli ?
- SABRES 89

Sabres Insider‏ @InsideSabres · Mar 1

Despite not being on a roster for 2 years, I'm told the Sabres have been in contact with the agent of Olli Jokinen to add late season depth.

Posted this on Wed. but didn't see you in here much. Figured you'd also get a kick out of it.

hated the trade as soon as it went down. Asplund better turn into Patrice Bergeron at this point or I'm never going to not hate it.

Pysysk is a RHD, Kulikov is LHD. We were in desperate need of a LHD and who know Kulikov would have his ass handed to him on a board door. It's easy to judge now, I liked the traded when it happened.

Only upside now in that trade is the 2nd Rasmus.

I explained myself even more in a later post. I'm going to assume you just haven't gotten that far yet.

Kulikov has sucked but it's explainable. He hasn't practiced in months and he's played hurt. The guy I can't come up with an explanation for is Bogo? He was never great but was at least good, putting up decent points while not being a trainwreck in his own zone. This year = no points and defensive liability. Watch the highlight of ARI's first goal last night. A 2 on 1, Bogo doesn't force the shot by taking the guy on the wing. Then when the pass is made, he's super lackadaisical, not staying with the guy who just made the pass who ends up getting a return pass and scores. It might as well have been a 2 on 0. This is fundamental hockey. The other thing our players love doing is running to the puck in our own zone, like Mite league players would do, leaving uncovered guys in our own zone. It happened in the game winning goal in ARI, the game tieing goal last night and throughout the year. Defense is simple, everybody stay with a guy and scoring chances will be limited unless someone loses a one on one battle. It's like these guys have no clue what to do in their own zone??

I assume this is part of the rumblings about the players not understanding/not liking the system. Zone coverage vs. man-to-man. Over thinking things in the defensive zone and guys not knowing if they should press

First of all, Bogo has points, he's not at 0 like you're implying.

Secondly, I already explained that my main issue with the trade is the fact that Kulikov is most likely going to walk at the end of the year. So we essentially traded a guy who easily would have been our 3rd best defender this year, that we spend time and money developing, for a guy that missed half the season and will walk at the end of it.

I also already said that I can't fully judge Kulikov due to the fact that he's been dealing with the injury. The 0 practice time is his own fault though, because he could have skipped the World Cup and come to training camp so that he could learn what his new coach expected and create some sort of chemistry with his teammates. So that's on him.

EDIT: Just an FYI, Bogo and Kulikov have missed the same amount of games this year, so why is it ok for Kulikov to suck because of injuries but it's not ok for Bogo?

I just saw something that said that Eichel is tied with PKane for most points in the league since Feb 1st. So there's that...

Oh, and I'm sure his ankle isn't quite 100% either....doesn't seem to be causing him any issues though.

I think he is 7th all time now in PPG for a 20 year old (season)

Yup 19 pts each, 18pts for Benn and Toews.

6 pts in the last 3 games doesn't hurt that statistic, but he's really taken his game to the next level. Still has a couple giveaways each game which you'd like to limit and his defensive zone coverage could be better, but I think we got a "real one" here.

He could be playing hurt with this affecting his play? One would hope. Stats:

2015/2016 64GP 7 Goals 17 Assists .375 points per game
2016/2017 38GP 1 Goal 6 Assists .184 points per game

If this isn't regressing significantly, not sure what is. Same coach.

he's also been playing with Kulikov for the most part. Hard to judge either when both have been pretty bad. Could be they don't mesh well. Could be injuries that both have had to deal with. Could just be they both suck.

In any event, it's killing the rest of the team.

I've been bring this up for a while now, Eichel past Matthews in PPG about a month ago. It sure does piss off Leaf fans when you inform them of this.

I've seen a few come in this blog and wish Jack/the Sabres luck. They're few and far between, but I think if you asked the average fan they'd tell you that a renewed rivalry would benefit both teams. Still it's always easier to think your car is a little shinier than that p.o.s. pulling up next to you.

The ones that say Jack is a bust are complete trolls. Up until they got Auston they didn't have a player on that team that could hold a candle to him...Marner included. Remember, trolls live in the basements of other peoples' houses...they are to be pitied only.

bogo
gorges
kulikov
franson

What if we had just never made the McNabb or Pysyk trade?
McCabe-Ristolainen
McNabb-Pysyk
Bogosian/Franson/Gorges

I never understood why Murray never really gave McNabb or Pysyk a shot with the Sabres?
He obviously didn't like part of their games for some reason,
But I just don't get it

I just find it humorous, their superiority complex even when Jack is out producing Auston. Edmonton guys do it too with the McDavid superiority. Jack and Auston are both awesome, and they may never be as good as McDavid, but they're both in the same ball park. At the end of the day wins matter most, and wins mean production. Connor is at 1.09 ppg with a lot of other talented offensive players on the Oiles team and Jack and Auston aren't terribly far behind in PPG. All three are super exciting to watch. So this nonsense that our guy is God's gift to hockey and yours is crap, is just ridiculous.

I agree with you
But engaging them in conversation about it & letting yourself get all riled up doesn't make sense
Just seems dumb to me...
Unless u really just like arguing
