I don't think so, he's played 340 games in the league, he is what he is. Everyone (generalization) said Tanev was working on his shot, working on his offence, well guess what, he is what he is too. And that's fine, he's very good defensively.
I'm fine with Gudbranson, I just don't like what they used to trade for him. - LeftCoaster
They traded a c prospect and a 2nd round pick. What do you think Benning could trade EG for at the draft? Probably a prospect better tha Mcannn at at least a 2nd round pic. He got great value on the trade whether you like the player or not. Personally, I think EG is one of the most valuable players we have. |

I don't think his value is that high anymore, however, it only takes one dummy to really want him and Bob's your uncle. |

I wonder if Benning should wait until July first to see if there is an offer sheet. If you could get a first second third then maybe? No hurry to sign |

Nobodies value on poop teams is ever very high. Only Bo and Sven, Sutter and Granlund are doing better then they should. |

I don't subscribe to that, if you're good, you're good. Avs want a lot for Duchene and rightfully so. |

Has McCann made an impression in Florida? I will say I would rather have McCann over Virtanen right now. I don't know about the future for Jake right now. I hope we see a different Jake come training camp. |

He is respected around the league and any team would want him. I'm sorry he doesn't have fancy fancy stats. The kids will feel a lot safer knowing Eric has their back. I wish folks would judge him on his time in Florida and not an injury riddled half season |

He wasn't that good in Florida, that's the issue, had one good playoff run and suddenly the other 300 games don't matter |

He's been just ok, kinda playing all over the place, a bit of center behind some good players and LW. |

I am not sure why. He's not as good as everyone thinks he is. Up till now his career average over 82 games would be 61 points per season. |

When 88 points wins the Art Ross it's not that bad either!! Last year 40, of 750, players had 61 points or better. |

No but Taylor hall is averaging 69 points and johansen is avg 54. Over careers. They didn't go for more then a young top 4 D. So how you expect a 1st, young top 4 D and a prospect? |

I'm assuming you followed him during the 300 games you speak of?
I agree with Don, Guddy brings a lot more to a team than "fancy stats." I know he hasn't playing well before he was injured but I think he has a lot of good things to contribute to the Canucks moving forward. Leadership and Physicality for sure. |

I believe I said I don't mind having him, I just thought they paid too much to get him. Yes he brings leadership but he's never been great defensively and he's an offensive stone.
Water under the bridge...I'm happy they've turned a new leaf and they had a good TDL. |

I think he has arbitration rights this year, so he can't be given an offer sheet if they go that route.
I think arbitration could really help the Canucks' case too. Low point producer, mediocre fancy stats, etc. They could really keep him low on short term |

Yes defense is a premium for sure, which sways the deals, however, I feel like Edmonton and Columbus are/were in a different spot to make those deals. They're a lot further along than the Canucks currently are or were last year.
Again, not unhappy he's a Canuck, just thought the price was high for a rebuilding team, or what should have been a rebuilding team. |
