Where are Moulson, Ennis, Fasching, Larsson and Foligno? We are gitting rid of all of them?
Even if some exit via trade, I can't imagine we get takers for Moulson/Enzo AND trade all these guys too. - RhinoFan

Tough to tell just from a highlight or 2 though
I'll try & look up some info on Asplund to see about his skating
I'm pretty sure he'd benefit from some AHL time though...
it's a different game over here
Many Euro's struggle for a bit to adjust
Just look at Nylander
Not that I'm saying Asplund stinks...
I just don't know that I'd be willing to slot him at 3C for next season - jdfitz77
Nylander played in NA last year though |

There is no chance a guy like Manson or Montour are moved for Fasching.
We literally have 4 options to trade for a top 4 D man who's young
Reinhart
Kane
Nylander
17 first.
That's about it.
No one's taking our 5th or 6th best prospect for one. - sbroads24
agreed. and if we do, i expect villagers with pitchforks because we paid what we had to pay. |

your either moving a big player
a big pick
or 3 pluggers, like foligno, larsson and fasching (even then probably adding a second or 3rd rd pick) |

Is
Fasching + 2nd
for
Manson
enough to get that done?
Is Foligno's trade value higher than Faschings? |

hardest decision was falk or austin - homiedclown
I protected Carrier and Falk as well. I'm just amazed that we would need to.
Brady Austin in the handful of games I have seen him makes our current NHL defense look all world to me. He is huge so he sticks out like a sore thumb on the ice. Problem is that he is not good. I'd rather protect Falk then him. Maybe that is why he got the extension.

Slots are irrelevant. Lots of teams are looking to upgrade. If that means leaving someone else unprotected or trading them, so be it. Everyone wants D. - Slump Buster
MAYBE
Let's just stick with Anaheim for example
Buffalo would do a deal with them for Manson & leave Bogosian unprotected
But would a team like NyR?
They'd have to leave Staal unprotected then
So, is Manson an upgrade?
And are they willing to lose Staal for nothing?
Or can they trade Staal to acquire what they had to give up for Manson?
Keep in mind, they won't have much time to make this trade. All these deals are likely to happen in just a few days before the expansion draft
For SOME teams, the above might make sense
But not "everyone" is going to attempt such maneuvers
It's not as easy as you'd make it seem
And teams like Anaheim, Minny, etc are not gonna trade their #1 or #2
So is their #4 that much of an upgrade over other teams' #3?
The answer is only yes for a few teams

Nylander played in NA last year though - stashu
I think maybe u missed my point
It's that I wouldn't count on Asplund to be our 3C next year
Chances are, he'll need time to adjust to the NA style game
I used Nylander as an example bc even though he played a year in Juniors,
He's been struggling a bit in the AHL
Maybe Asplund won't, and he is "ready" to be 3C
But it's not something I'd count on right now
Seems like a big ask
Also,
I'd much rather see Reinhart at 3C and us have 3 solid lines that can score |
