The shootout stats are bizarre but I agree, it's gotta change at some point. I wonder how he does in practice. |

like I said, no mishandling of the puck, no shots wide, no near miss that hits equipment...and that shot by kucherov last night was sick |

Guy saves 0.967% in regulation and looks like a gargantuan fresh caught herring on ice in the SO.
Mind bottling. |

According to Corsica,Lehner is 31st in high danger sv% of goalies who have played at least 1,000 minutes at 5 on 5. Andrés Nilsson is #1.
Which means the guy isn't good against breakaways or 2 on 1's.
Maybe the shootouts aren't a mystery |

So breakaways and 2 on 1's are the only high danger chances?
Got it...your love for these advanced stats are borderline scary.
I cannot remember the last goal scored on him on a breakaway... |

8 points behind Boston with 17 games to go. Gotta finish with 24 points. 11-3-2. 10-3-2 after today. GiC. We own the Pens in Sunday Matinee games. |

when someone gets a breakaway, penalty shot or we go to a shootout with Lehner, i just assume they're going in.
Its a big part of being a goalie. I hope he can somehow work on it over the summer.
Dont know how much practice time is dedicated to the shootout, but it sounds like more would benefit the whole team... |

I did miss that goal. Not gonna lie.
But of the regular in game breakaways I have seen he has stopped most. He even addressed it post game last night, the "skills competition" they can slow down speed up etc. Unless we are playing the Avs and they pass backwards on a breakaway players need to skate full out. |

The Sabres have scored 1 goal with Lehner in net in the shootout...
So no matter what the entire team goaltender out needs to get better in them. |

I say this all the time.
Shoot the damn puck.
The ice is crap by the end of a game as it is. 65 minutes of game play 25 minutes of dirty ice.
Shoot the puck stop trying to be Pavel shoot the damn puck. |

you need some flash for shoot outs
eichel and skunk provide no flash
I would use kane, ennis and probably moulson or bailey for shoot outs |

All I'm saying is that it's not a mystery he's bad in shootouts. He's bad at them in game action. Nashville lit him up on 3 straight odd man attempts. Colin Wilson hit the post after beating him on a breakaway |

he's very shaky in odd man rushes...agreed...that said, the d-men have been as shaky as well which doesn't help matters all that much |

Well, I think going full-speed is a lot better of an idea, but shooting the puck instead of dangling is a much better choice most of the time in the SO. I just think you have to get the goalie on his heels in the SO, so skate straight at him, maybe one move then boom.
Edit: I was quoting stripes, quotes not working. |

Yeah, they certainly don't help. |

here's one for y'all:
would you rather 3-on-3 for 10 minutes with a possible end-result of a tie
or
stick with the same format
