He helped but idk about developed them.
Kesler Burrows Hansen were already self driven to succeed.
Free reign he gave to vets.
He's a very good coach in the right circumstances.

- Nighthawk

So if those players were self-driven to succeed then it really doesn't matter who's there to coach youth?

They only need to be self-driven?

We should just draft self-driven players then.

Would need a couple more high end players, I said before that for this team to win they need to replace the twins with 2 players of the same caliber what they were. Speaking 70-80 point players.
- manvanfan

Well if Bo and Sven turn into that then it's a bonus. Not sure if this draft has one for us. Goldy and Dhalen supposed to be close. Then there is BB and Granlund. Not counting out Rodin yet. Though with what I see the team is full of small forwards. Why JV is important. Need to draft more size too.

Possible post Sedin forwards:

Sven Bo LE
Granlund Sutter BB
Goldy Dahlen JV
Guance/Rodin Gaudette Labate//Boucher

That's still a small group. Skilled but not sure if enough high end. Need centers with size. What else?

Don't forget the 164 games the last two seasons before this one
- Bullfrog77

They weren't bad in his first year. 12th that year. The Sedin's were very different two years ago. They have slowed much faster then most had hoped.

Wasn't saying that. Van needed a different direction, it was time for AV to go. But I will say AV was quicker to change things up if they weren't working.
- Kaynine

All true but no cups still with 2 very good rosters he has had.
Not putting him down but he is not the coach for a developing team such as ours.
I'm not on the fire WD bandwagon til i have a good replacement.
I'd like to see T Green get his shot if these last 18 games don't prove WD can continue getting the yutes to improve. So far he has done well at that.

Had a vertebrae fusion surgery....extremely serious....especially for a pro athlete in a full contact sport. I wouldn't risk future paralasis for a couple more seasons of my career. He should take the medical out route
- Bullfrog77

remember this is my area of expertise. Fusion surgery wont really leave him at risk of paralysis. THe plate and screws are made of titanium. I doubt however he will be the same player, there seems to be lingering discomfort following. In a game of microseconds hesitation can change it all.

However I have had one patient who had supporting rods (used primarily in lumbar and thoracic areas not cervical) and 1 broke which resulted in him repeatedly being stabbed by the broken rod. So its still somehow possible for the stuff to break but its extremely rare. Fusion uses a thick plate so its pretty unthinkable.
he can play but STILL, I'd be shying away from the hugest hits to be safe.

Thats a very convenient guess that 2 $8.25m contracts r moved that easily.
- Nighthawk

Yeah. It is.

AV fell into the same trap that WD is. They know the Sedin's are good hockey players. AV couldn't move on from them and neither can Willie. Sooner WD realizes that the Sedin's can be productive and so can other players on this team, he won't be on the hot seat nightly.

Yup. Willie is still a terrible coach. The absolute worst. Folks don't dislike him because of Goblin. They think he is an idiot because of 1000 bizarre decisions since he took over the team
- CanuckDon

whats worse than the 1000 is the fact he hasnt learned anything from it

Hey man. I don't actually have any love for willie (beyond the stache). I'm just saying he doesn't deserve all the blame for the season.

Yeah no problem, they'll only have three players with a combined 25m in contracts at a tender age of 36, 36 and 37 - easy!!!

Who wouldn't want to take on those salaries?

Even now those three aren't producing that much better than the Sedins

Self driven & never satisfied players r always the best to have.
Thats not coachable even Sid doesn't sit on his laurels.

Sure draft all the BO's we can get our hands on.

I think All should get their fair share of blame. Except for JB of course.

Yeah, AV wouldn't be my choice to work with a younger roster either, but WD isn't that guy either.

AV was a good coach, not great. He was canned to try and jump start the team......that worked out well. We haven't had a better coach since.
- golfingsince

absolutely.

I'd say it was performance related. Which makes me wonder how WD is still here

well seeing as the Ducks are a considered a cup team and we have our 3rd string goalie in and on a B2B we beat 2 Cali teams , WD does get the most out of this team

Good Win tonight boys
