180 pounds... he's very strong actually. He's not a power forward but he's gritty, passionate and has no shortage of skills at both ends of the ice.

Not a fan of midgets, take guys like that in the 4th or 5th round. Just my personal opinion.

- LeftCoaster

There's no way this kid makes it to the 3rd round.

I find it ironic that many complain about "lemmings " on here but the moment some don't support their agenda they are drama queens. It appears it's a slippery slope between drama queens and lemmings. This blog has turned to sh!t

Stick to your opinion. If you don't like WD, it's not surprising. I personally don't see this group doing better with another coach. bo, granlund, bae, tree and stecher are growing because of something the leadership group(bench/dressing room) is doing right imo. I totally get not liking him, the deployment is hard to understand sometimes. But the team is awful, i think he helps get these guys motivated despite that which is something.

absolutely.

I'd say it was performance related. Which makes me wonder how WD is still here

AV faced similar problems. He lasted... and improved.

I can remember the entire city freaking in AV's first couple of seasons about things like not putting out a 2nd face off guy when we were protecting a 1 goal lead in the final 20 seconds in our own end.... then have our guy thrown out(and Bulis taking it instead) and lose the face off, get scored on and lose in OT... then miss the playoffs by a couple of points...

I'd say message was delivered to Willie on line deployment...all the lines got a fair shake...10-12 mins for the fourth line. Sedins around 15 mins. Marked improvement over the kings game

She really thinks its all her business too

Agreed, the other division is junk and unfortunately even if Tampa or FLA can succeed in catching up to make the playoffs, they are likely in the wild card spot which will be no easy task

I'm pulling for Florida, good young group. Old mullet. Some ex-nucks. Tbay is looking good and stamkos is skating

Anyone think we could have a goaltending tandem of Markstrom/ Bachman next season or do we need a Miller type?

I would prefer to continue moving on from the older players.

- Reubenkincade

I say go for it. Demko can take a step forward and start doing the heavy lifting in Utica. Time for Miller to move to California.

If you can sign Miller short term and then flip him at the TDL for a pick, that would be nice. I doubt he's going to get many multi-year offers, but GM's get silly in July so who knows.

Markstrom isn't #1 material and I'd take it really slow with Demko. Markstrom/Bachman would be a strong tank duo.

- Nucker101

Miller and Markstrom are not exactly keeping us out of a top 10 pick though... I say go for it...

Seems over the past few pages we have another train wreck.

The engineer is boozing again calling out the conductor. Who's busy telling off the pompous intellectual that he's got the wrong seat. Meanwhile the ladies man has stopped his car on the tracks cause the broads want a near death experience for a finally. Blame the Nucks gents cause they won again.

The above is dedicated to my stalker and Lefty who likes a good riddle. But Booner will set it all straight. Que the retorts

I'm bored with this all. Leave me out of it. That means everyone.

For what it's worth... I never went after Dragon in the threads for the stories he tells... it was always about something he said hockey related and his responses to hockey arguments.

It took AV longer. AV was not a rookie NHL coach when he was hired either. He was HC for the Habs already.

AV inherited the West Coast Express followed up by the young Sedins. He always had excellent D at his disposal...Ohlund, Edler, Mitchell, Bieksa.

AV struggled early and turtled in the playoffs for his first couple of runs.

You really should be asking how AV kept his job with the logic you have applied. AV turned out to be one of the better coaches in the League. The Canucks can honestly take credit for a lot of it.

and for the record the things I shared were responses to questions I was asked. Ive always had a friendly open book policy until the trolls came out here.

example is a few months back when we talked about prince george and the reason you left van. That is the only time Ive ever mentioned people I knew (we knew many of the same).

Ive been here almost 7 years and really didnt have any trouble with trolls till 1 year or so ago. Thats when I changed my avatar and people asked alot about me. My friends continued to be my friends and the jealous began trolling.

youre right AV turtled in the playoffs for years.
The difference is AV had the skills to get us to the playoffs!!
willie is way worse with decisions and choices than AV was....in any game and it doesnt seem like hes learning a thing. Not one.

I would definitely recommend seeing Logan. It's not very cheerful fare but very well written, beautifully shot and Jackman gives such a soulful and sorrowful performance. Some superhero elements are present, but it plays out more like a tragic western.

I give it 4.5 Mcdavids out of 5.

AV had already coached 266 games as a head coach before the Canucks hired him.

By the time he spent 3 seasons for the Canucks, he coached over 440 games as a HC. AV's early mistakes were with hundreds of more games as HC. Better D, better goal tending, more star power on the team....

ok....there is a point there sure.
Let me put it this way, I do not believe that in 10 more years of coaching willie will ever be where AV is now.

Another point that could be made is willie has coached hockey what 30 years? THats more than the 15 or so AV has. Different leagues and all sure but still, youd think he'd be making better decisions by now.

AV coached AHL and junior as well...

Time will tell on the comparison. I haven't actually claimed one would be better than the other when we review their careers down the road... just from the stand point of fair assessment and chances early in their Canuck careers. The fact can't be denied that AV had more experience, better scoring, better D and goal tending and star power in their 20's for game breakers...

ya he coached the farm team.

I guess the way to tell how willie is is to put him on another nhl team and see how he does.
I really dont see another nhl team hiring him tho
