They won. - Marwood
That's a simplistic look at it though, if you dissect it, they won because of goaltending not because of coaching. They gave up 90 shots, that's an issue!!
Montreal was in first place in their division and still fired their coach, on the surface it looks good, but if you dig deeper there's issues....that's all I'm saying. |

Pretty funny to see people calling for Willie's head after two back to back victories in California.
This fan base is a general embarrassment. Shameful. - Marwood
I enjoy seeing them win, standings be damned.
Great to see some new faces in the lineup, want to see them do well. I think the draft lotto allows for some wins, so much chance involved.

this team is going to lose more often than not anyways. Judgement should be made based on his decisions going forward and whether they support the rebuild, since the direction was only changed like a week ago.
I was very happy to see that 53-47-60-27-51 were first ones out on the PP a few times, even though the Sedins were rested. Likewise I like the addition of Goldoblin on with the experienced guys as he gets integrated (it injury influenced, but glad the priority was to keep the other unit together rather than adding Sven with the Sedins). If he keeps making decisions like these, I am fine with keeping WD around until this team is ready to be competitive again - WhiteLie
That's nice but none if it matters as long as Willie behind the bench.
I'm not even a fan of Willie but the hysteria is baffling. Oh, I forgot, if they get Hitchcock to coach the Presidents Trophy will be forever re-named the Canuck Trophy. |

Did you know Willie Desjardins is 6th all-time in games coached for the Canucks
Only Vigneault, Crawford, Neale, Quinn, McCammon are ahead of him after this season. |

I think people have generally been on the fire him side for awhile now. They gave up 90 shots in the two games, their goaltenders won them the games....not Desjardin. - LeftCoaster

Wrong about finding it ironic that people are freaking out about Willie after winning 2 back to back games on the road? |

It's convenient that fans are calling for his dismissal and he does the right thing and gives the kids some opportunities. Why can't he make the right decision on his own? |

They definitely need to rely on Horvat offensively much much more. Henrik is getting 59.7% of zone starts in the offensive zone at even strength, Daniel is getting 60.5%.
Horvat on the other hand is getting 45% at even strength.
ATOI (average time on ice) Henrik is still averaging 19:13 minutes and Daniel 18:29. Horvat is at 17:49, so he's catching them, but he needs to be above them next year.

You are absolutely correct that Horvat needs more O zone starts but the Sedin's would get buried if they started in their own end more frequently. |

Are people still complaining? I was complaining after the LA game but now that we are back in the playoff picture I think Willie is a sensational coach. |

I really think the mandate changed on him. He said essentially called out management last year when he said its difficult to try and compete but also develop players, and as of the TDL it was the first time anyone in Canucks said our focus is the future.
I cant blame him for having trust in certain players in attempts to squeeze out wins with that kind of roster. I hope now he becomes more ok with mistakes in an effort to develop these kids, if he fails to they need to find a coach that will |

splitting up the Sedins is pointless. They are struggling while playing with each other, what makes you think they will be any better being split up. I think they need moved to more of a "2nd line" deployment. Both in game and on the PP. Move Bo's line to number 1 and Let Bo's PP line start the PP. He shouldn't be playing behind the Sedins anymore, and I think he has proved that. - Codes1087
Yeah I'd go with that order for Bo. My suggestion on splitting them up between a second and third line.
Like Danny could help Sutter. Granlund with Goldy and Hank. As an example. Might see how that works as a set up for next season. They might be more useful and less harmful without the puck for next season.
Plus help the style of the team develop more offensively. Just don't know if the coach and management see it like that or would know how to push it on them. |

I think it's fair to blame him for placing his trust in Chaput, Magma, Vey, Dorsett etc. With the exception of Dorsett, none of them belong in the NHL. Benning deserves some blame here though. He should send these guys to Utica so Willie can't deploy his pets over more skilled, younger players like Boucher and Gaunce. |

It is definitely fair, but I dont know the relationships or expectations given to players to say he should trust one over another. I do agree its a shared blame, if Benning is unhappy with who he uses, it is his roster to change |

Would like to see that. You wonder if Nucks care to promote and develop any exposed players prior to Vegas draft? |
