the team sucks but benning doesn't b/c: 1) it's mg's fault; 2) it's aqalinni's fault; 3) it's linden's fault; 4) it's wd's fault; and 5) it's the sedins' fault.
tanking is a horrible strategy that never works and is dishonorable... except when it's a "stealth" tank which is what jb did last year b/c of course the team's record wasn't his fault.
of course jb couldn't make any moves last year b/c of no trade clauses. of course he couldn't trade players on expiring contracts b/c they were trying to make the playoffs! the fact that jb was able to trade players with NTCs (before this year and at this tdl) doesn't disprove his inability to make trades, it shows his genius.
no need for top end picks b/c every pick that jb makes is going to turn into a top 3 forward or a top pairing dman. the guy he will choose at 10-20 will be as good as the guy he would choose at 5-7.
jb is such a good scout that the guy he wants in the middle part of every round will always be available b/c no other gm knows about that guy. no need to have high picks b/c jb's guy will always be there!
as long as there aren't injuries, this is a playoff contending team and should be a real cup contender in about 3-5 years.
if you disagree with any of this: you're not a real fan of the canucks. go find some other team to cheer for loser!

thats not tanking thats developing , and so what do you do when your youth scores and you win games? Bench them? - onesmallleap
Big IF for starters & it forces results 1 way or the other.
Youths playing tough minutes r expected to falter.
If they excel consistently we have something.
Now thinking youth plays consistently well is going against the odds.
So its tanking in the guise of gaining experience.

with the trades JB has made to shorten the age gap , our youth are not going to go out there and just falter , and you risk permanently damaging players like Bo, Sven Markus much like the Edmonton Oilers did for years

By falter i mean mistakes will happen but if WD supports them & encourages them & throws them out again he gains their confidence. Players have 2 confidences the 1st is in themselves the other what the coach thinks. Once a player worries about the coach he is in trouble. The player who rises above it all is determined to put it in his own hands.
