They are drawing a lot of kids from Canada as well,because of the improvements to the quality of competition. The fact that only CHL route is the only path that disqualifies a player to play in US colleges may end up being the downfall of the CHL.
Also a player being drafted out of USHL or high school can go to AHL before age 20, so players may see that as an advantage.

The NHL needs to change it's agreement with the greedy CHL. Period. Allow these kids to earn some money. So few make it and the AHL gives some avenues for kids who aren't able to do college to get a chance for a taste.
