Ah...the smoke and mirror surplus. Creative accounting, nothing more. He left every ministry with no money, delayed funding programs for months to make sure the books would show a surplus just for the election.
I don't like the deficits trudeau is proposing/doing but he did say he was going to do just that.
Harper promised to balance the books and left us with 160B in additional debt after his 10 years in power. - Symba007
Good thing you ain't a fact checker lol...
lil' Castro did say he was going to run deficits yes but nothing in the way of where we are headed now to over a trillion.
600 million to #fakenewsCBC so they can pump Liberal tires out east and 300 million to Bombardier after they told lil' Castro they didn't need the money!
Oustanding governing! |

They are an anchor on the rest of the country for so many reasons. No need to go beyond Bombardier. My daughter went to Queens U in Kingston On. A student from Quebec pays 1/2 the tuition of one from BC. Why? Does anyone know if this applies to UBC as well? - Grumpy13
Nah that's B.S.
University is only subsided by Quebec in Quebec.
I was born and raised here. Could have paid half the tuition costs of Ontario had i stayed in Quebec but i chose to study in Ontario where i payed full price like everyone else. |

My prediction is Canucks lose Subban and a fourth round pick to Vegas this year at the expansion draft. - VANTEL

Yep, but we are not a republic, we are a federation. The term you used 'shared' is correct because, a 'British Columbian' also happens to be a 'Canadian".
That's why, the resource clause within the equalization policy has shifted, but generally remains at 50%. For instance:
In 1962, 50% of natural resource revenues were added to the list of revenues to be equalized; the same year, the standard was changed to the average of the ten provinces. The inclusion of natural resource revenues disqualified Alberta and British Columbia from receiving equalization payments
After the 1963 federal election, the incoming Liberal government changed the formula and returned to the weighted average of the top two provinces. Resource revenues were no longer included. However, 50% of natural resource revenues were deducted from the equalization payments, once again eliminating Alberta and British Columbia as recipient provinces.
Then the 1982 Atlantic accords started to give 'have not' provinces such as N.S and N.F, 100% resource (oil) revenues in the interest of boosting their own provincial purse but apart from that, has largely remained the same.
And stop whining as if you have it so bad, 1/5th of Quebec (Labrador) was annexed to help a bunch of poor fisherman on a stupid little island , so have a little perspective would ya. - Whiskey-Tango
I just wanted to point out you were wrong, resources in Canada don't "belong" to all Canadians, they belong to the province in which they exist. Which is where we started with this. I know this because when we apply for a license to develop resources we do it through the Province, not the federal government.
The resource belongs to the Provincial government, we just agree to extract that resource for them and pay them a fee to do so, but it still belongs to them. We are just good stewards in helping clean up the natural disaster that is the Canadian Oil Sands.

I imagine this year the 6'3 or 6'2 Neill or Olsen will be on the Comets trying for a spot on the club - VANTEL
I suspect only one of them gets signed. They are both fringe prospects at this point |

I thought so. Giving up a fourth round pick to protect Sbisa . I don't ever see Subban playing for Canucks so that is the deal sealer. |

Depends on the project, sometimes both a federal and provincial sign-off is required.
And they do 'belong' to all Canadians because the wealth one province extracts, is then applied to their equalization payments to the tune of 50% within a resource context
And a big LOL on that last sentence.
Thanks for playing your part in turning Northern Alberta into the life sized version of Mordor

Subban is exempt so if you are saying him plus fourth traded to protect Sbisa plus Guance then Vegas has to pick someone else. Like DD...? |

Trump school of facts I see - Symba007
lol...nah...just reality of Castro's cyclical pace on spending which you can't deny.
first 100 days of Turdeau 4.3 billion goes 'outside' of Canada...
All the while Turdeau promises Ottawa 2 billion to upgrade their schools...oops...surplus gone?
Pulls troops out of Iraq and Syria where they are needed and is talking about another UN Africa intervention...
No clue on the cost involved to legalize marijuana but yet dupes his voters with it as a campaign promise...it's on and on and on with lil' castro...
How's that for smoke and mirrors... |

Only because of an "agreement" to share, not because they actually do.
And I know (assume) you wouldn't know this, why would you, you've probably never been here. But, the companies that do business up here, do so under the most stringent policies in the world! Canada produces the cleanest oil in the world.
When they remove the overburden (soil) above the oil sands, they extract the oil and reclaim the land back to where you'd never know an extraction process existed there.
Nature left oil deposits here that rise to the surface during the summer and create puddles that animals get trapped in, it naturally runs off into lakes and streams and rivers polluting them, blame nature/God for that, not the oil companies. |

Can you cite that please?
Would be very interested in learning more on that if true.
We also still have troops in Iraq and Syria, they simply pulled out our grand total of like 4 fighter jets.
