Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks playing for pride, will try to extend win streak vs. Habs After winning back-to-back games on the road for the first time all season over the weekend, the Vancouver Canucks open a five-game homestand without injured Loui Eriksson as they host the Montreal Canadiens.

Good write up.

I agree with what TL said about WD. He's got the guys to buy in, play hard.

The most cited reason for letting a coach go is 'they lost the room' or guys quit on him. So he's got that going for him...

but the 2nd most used reason for letting a coach go is the team 'wanted a new voice or decided to go in a different direction'

i'd give WD 50/50 odds at this point for being here next year.

Thanks. And yes, agreed. I think Willie has a chance to keep his job if he plays his cards right over the next month.

Any word yet on how long Eriksson will be out for.

Wow, Linden's comments on Willie did not leave an aire of confidence for his future.

I think Montreal is a team that solidified themselves nicely at the deadline. Jordie Benn is an underrated defenseman that would've been a nice addition to any team, Davidson will be a good 6/7 guy for them and King definitely adds the needed size up front.
King would be a nice addition to our lineup for next season via free agency.

Thanks Carol,

As you say the "last 17 games" mean a lot for WD. This said how he deploys players Goldobin in lieu of his favorites will come into play in his "evaluation" process as well.

And what's the potential for upgrade anyway? Who could or will be available this off-season?

I agree that WD seems to have the players attention, and they do play hard every night. Not a big fan of his line management, but also not a fan of constant change. I would let him play out his contract next year to see what he does with the new core.

A stop gap guy like Sbisa who is affordable , fits in well and knows the system?

I wouldn't hate it if he stays, I just wouldn't be disappointed if he leaves.

That's fair. He is an adequate number 5. I like him but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he is gone.

I think part of that includes playing the youth, which he seems open to doing (given the last few games).

It's too bad Markstrom is hurt, it would be nice to allow him to put a few games together here, see what he's got.

This.

Just like we're not really in a position to sign/trade for an expensive top line players this year (b/c we're not in a position to make the playoffs anytime soon), we need a coach that develops the youth...something WD seems to be doing well.

Disregard request for info. Just posted to rotoworld. Desjardins says Eriksson out 1 to 2 weeks.

We talking Sbisa?

Yeah, no tears would be shed if he leaves, but it sure would be preferable to move him for an asset or keep him.
I've always liked him and what he brings.

The guy who owns Uber is a jerk. Uber drivers can rate passengers as well as the other way around.

The guy who owns the company has one of the worst passenger rating you can have.
