Exactly..it will be tough for us to get a well regarded veteran coach. I am not sure if Green is any better than Willie. Benning needs to get creative with an assistant coach or somebody in Europe - CanuckDon
Green is an exNHLer which adds to a resume.
His ability to directly relate to the game is a plus. |

Interesting conversation today on Primetime with Bob McCown. John Shannon and Friedman were discussing the state of Canucks, seemed to imply that at last draft deal for PK and Evander Kane fell through causing this new direction the team is taking with the youth movement.
They appeared to agree that Willie should stay & that Canucks need to have 4 or 5 of prospects be hits.
Couldn't figure out how to get the link but Google primetime if you want to listen. |

When you're disgruntled its easy to point fingers but I think there is a lot to those rumours. As in they are true. - thundachunk
I think there is some truth in there, but i also think it got blown out of proportion, where every poor decision (often in retrospect) is laid at the feet of Aquilini...like who gets drafted...It makes sense in some ways that the owner would have some say in the head coach, but not every little move. |

I would keep an eye on Lindy Ruff this summer. He is a guy I would go for and I think he will be canned in the next 18 months |

That is a name i would be quite interested in, if he became available...enter all the ownership animosity theories. |

If they are implying direction of not adding high end vets ended at the draft then why later sign LE? Doesn't fit the theory. Sounds like attempts to categorize things. We all know the interest JB had even in Stamkos he got fined for it. Kane deal was a no go cause Sabers asked for too much on a depressed asset. |

Was perusing asst coaches (did anyone know that Neidermayer was a coach in Ana?).
asst options:
John Stevens
Rob Brindamour
oh. this list is out of date...nvm. |

Obviously not directly after draft as they signed LE and Benning stated several times that they wanted 20 goal left winger so between that and tdl I guess. Just going on what I sensed from their discussion. |

Do you think changing out the assistant coaches would change things?

Personally if I was changing coaches it would be the whole crew. Let the new head coach have a say in who he wants. |

sorry, i was more looking at current assistants that could be a good HC option (as the current list of available HC's is lacking a bit).
I think Stevens could be good (but i believe he is the heir apparent in LA), Brindamour i don't know anything about as a coach, was just tossing out names of ex-players that would hopefully be better than Roy, Mctavish or Hunter |

I agree. I don't think just changing out the assistant will change WD's stubbornness for playing the vets and unwilling to adjust things when they aren't working. |

Sheldon Keefe has a bit of baggage but he's been successful coaching. More of a 'new school' type of coach that leans on analytics. |

WD has some strengths that we need to have in a new coach if it goes that way. Communication and respect for the players is really import for today's players.

Wait & see if the Caps win the cup.
If not see if Trotz is canned & then jump on him fast. |

Crawford is a good example of an old school coach that has adjusted to the new wave of players.

Yeah, I can buy the Torts theory, but I'm sceptical that he's involved in drafts, signings and trades. I'm sure a lot of the major moves are run by him, especially if a lot of money is involved but that's about it. Anything more is pure speculation. |
