Man I really, really hope they sign Willie to a 5 year extension just so we can have a daily dose of Willie hate, Willie whining, Willie b!tching, Willie moaning, I know better than Willie, Willie has a funny mustache, Willie has a facial tick thing, oh have you heard I'm not a fan of Willie.. - Makita

What Whitelie said down there too.
A chance to win the stanley cup and play with all-star players. A lot of the kids will never see an NHL game so the first contract they are offered is taken. - manvanfan
Disagree. Thats what parents advisors & agents help out on. |

I hope we fire him, and then fire the next guy. That way we can keep pace with the Islanders in the 2000's who had 8 coaches in 10 years, those were good teams
EDIT: or maybe like the Oilers, they are on coach #7 from 2009! |

Its smart on Chi too, sign a decent NCAA/Euro kid, play him with Toews/Hossa, Kane/Panarin, let the rack up points and sell high. As long as that core is going strong they can manufacture assets - WhiteLie
Who racked up points?
Hawks r thin on assets other than their well paid star core.
I don't give Bowman much credit at all in fact other than cap juggling.
Tallon built that team & Bill Wurtz died & got out of the way. |

OKAY I SPENT A DECENT AMOUNT OF TIME ON THIS!
From the Ontario Hockey league...(yes it's not finished yet).
Players that had 40 goals in a season had 10 plus less assists then goals. so 40 goals and 30 assists. or 42 goals and 17 assists.
09-10
Bryan Cameron
Jeff Skinner
Jeremy Morin
Alex Hutchings
Brett Thompson
Christian Thomas
10-11
Josh Shalla
Andrew Agozzino
Darren Archibald
12-13
Reid Boucher
13-14
Dane Fox
Nathan Pancel
14-15
Pius Suter
Dylan Sadowy
Brendan Lemieux
15-16
Aaron Berisha
Dylan Sadowy
Zachary Senyshyn
Greg Betzold.
I didn't check to see if any of these were draft years or not.
My point for this entire thing is that there are 4 players this year that have already hit that in the Ontario hockey league. 2 of them are draft eligible. Owen Tippett and Jonah Gadjovich.

Playmakers win games & cups.
No D or goalchie never was a hope.
Scorers don't generate chances & often don't do the dirty work.
Stars lead & drag a team to wins. |

Well rookie Panarin was a free agent signing they found.
Others might not have made immediate impact but Hartman, Panik, van Riemsdyk have become top assets they could sell off. Jimmy Hayes was an NCAA free agent, Saad was a 2nd round pick they sold high on.
Im not claiming these guys to be core pieces, or all stars, but the Hawks are perennial contenders because they find ELC's and make their value increase in order to keep the cycle going |

When the Canucks extend Willie this summer, I hope it's for 7 years. That should give him at least two chances to win the cup. |

It wouldn't, he's not really that good, he should be in the minors or 6-7 dman. - Makita
SO going with the thread of the postings you would agree with Codes that the Canucks should have better chance to sign NCAA free agents over a contender like Chicago.
By the way your continuous digs to bait people on the Canucks D is very amusing. |

Curious...
If any of Kane Toews Seabrook Keith sustained a significant injury what r the odds the Hawks even get a sniff at the cup?
How much was Salos injury a blow to our chances?
Naslund and his broken leg?
Kesler & Burrow both playing with bum shoulders?
Price injury & Habs sunk into oblivion.f
My point is Bowman drafted none of the Hawks core but he has managed it well. He gets overblown credit as a genius too easily.
Without coach Q whom he did not hire the Hawks r much less. |

makes you wonder how things could be different. If we had Q instead of AV would we have won a cup with WCE or the Sedins? |

He is the best coach in the NHL. Babcock is a fantasy of the Leafs imagination.
Coach Q should get $10m per |

In the example you used I interpreted that you were asking "would Stecher as a NCAA signed player get a better chance on a contender (Chicago) over a struggling team (Vancouver). Response was that I didn't think he would get the same ice time because I view him as a 6-7 quality dman.
And you may look at my comments as digs, I'm just stating my opinions just like everyone else here. My opinion is the canucks D are terrible, a few 3-4 the rest are 5-8, no digs |
