Looking at that list. Jeff Skinner in his draft year was 50-40.
Stamkos in his draft year was 58-47. Those would probably be Tippett's closet comparables. Just to see the rest of the players with similar numbers it looks like a bit of gamble to draft that type of player. Same as Virtanen in his draft year 45-26. That probably should have been a red flag right there.

In the example you used I interpreted that you were asking "would Stecher as a NCAA signed player get a better chance on a contender (Chicago) over a struggling team (Vancouver). Response was that I didn't think he would get the same ice time because I view him as a 6-7 quality dman.

And you may look at my comments as digs, I'm just stating my opinions just like everyone else here. My opinion is the canucks D are terrible, a few 3-4 the rest are 5-8, no digs

Stecher was used as an example of as an undrafted NCAA free agent player. That even on a lower caliber team like the Canucks cracking the line up is remote. So why would a contender have more opportunity which is what they want.

Your explanation makes the case I put forward on development. That the NCAA guy in making transition will get development opportunities on lower team over contender. Thus, Codes contention stands on signing free agent college guys.

Your ranking of young guys developing seems static on rating Nucks D. Plus you seem to relish knocking the D ever since people said they liked what they see. The comparison made really to last season plus young guys developing.

Well you can certainly twist my thoughts on the canucks D all you like, a long time ago, long before you ever showed up here, I was saying the exact same things about the canucks D.

So are you implying that if I read posters making claims that the D roster is solid and set, that I should not reply with my own opinions that I believe they are suspect and suck.

So because I'm a ref, I can no longer have any individual opinions, I have to be a swallower like the majority here.

Last night I watched the magnificent all world defense play like an AHL squad, but I'd better not mention that, noo, I should instead blame Willie for an imaginary tactic, he benched someone down by a goal, he doesn't trust youth...

I'd be pleased with Patrick, Nico, Tippet, Makar, Pettersson Mittelstad, Vilardi, Tolvanen or Liljegren. No superstars but lots of quality prospects

It all began with Tallon went from there. Coach Q took the team to where it is now.

When the Canucks extend Willie this summer, I hope it's for 7 years. That should give him at least two chances to win the cup.

I have always wondered how many of these top 3,5 ,9 draft picks do you have to have. Do they have to be on the roster or just in the system and can they be a top pick acquired from another team, before you are allowed to make a playoff push?
