Then that POS should stop making his own hockey decisions. Torts was his hire, not Gillis. JV was his pick, not bennings. I still think JV can turn it around and be a solid top 9 for us. But the only knowledge about hockey he has that we don't is insider info due to owning the team. The guys seems to have little knowledge of the game itself. - Retinalz
This is pure speculation, no one can say for sure that they know he forced the hiring of Torts or the selection of Virtanen.
Ahh, I see, a veiled insult that I would chose Willie over an icon hockey coach.
I have stated several, several times that I don't agree with a lot of his strategies, and I have also stated that I think he will be gone before next season. But because I won't join in the incessant b!tching, whining and moaning by several here, you've come to the conclusion I must hold him in the highest regard possible.
With the way you constantly criticize him, I actually believe you must be his wife. - Makita
I apologize Makita, I realize it's a sensitive subject.

I have heard from people closely connected to the team that Aquilini has taken a step back. The deadline supports this theory.

Gillis went right out after his firing and said that Torts was not his choice of coach. Benning said he was going by Gillis' list and Gillis had said Larkin was his top choice.

Tony Gallagher said before Torts was hired that Gillis said he is not a fan of Torts's style so he would be shocked if MG hired him . He then said but FA likes him and may want to make a splash.
Take it for what it is (speculation) but I did hear say that before the Torts hiring

Wasn't the reason for the Torts hiring to try and change the culture of the players running the room?

Gillis was pretty adamant about it in his final days and after…there has to be something to it.
Hartley would not be at the top of my list for coach's available.
I'd rather Hitch, Gallant, Terrien, but not really sold on them either.
Terrien would probs be my top pick if someone put a gun to my head and made me choose. - dbot
Hitch No
Gallant Yes
Therrien Non Non Non !!!
Hartley Pouquoi
As much as not being a Torts fan, he wasn't going to be successful. The players he had didn't match his coaching style. WD probably would have had more success with that group. WD likes his vets.
