This team has unraveled and I think that's a good thing. No masking the problems. They're all laid out on the table for everyone to see.
I remember the end of the 03-04 season and our team was really starting to come around. They won 9 out of the final 17 games, got points 13 of those. While those numbers aren't great they were coming out of an abysmal period and they were really starting to play with purpose. Then they parlayed that by becoming one of the NHL's hottest teams when hockey returned and I wasn't really surprised.
This team on the other hand is quite the opposite. Down the stretch when it's mattered they've just folded. They've exposed that the moves they've made clearly aren't a step in the right direction. They can't(and likely won't) ice the same team next year and hope for better. - Buffalo--Sabres
I think the individual players on defense are so bad that we can't make any assumptions about the team as a whole.

Sabres need taller hockey blades - cabin
There's a ton of deadweight on this team, if they don't get one of the top 3 lottery picks, I think they have to move it for a defenseman they don't have time to wait |

Agreed. Maybe this year people won't whine about giving up the 8th overall pick for a guy like Cam Fowler. Top four Defenseman just don't grow on trees. |

Kulikov - if it's just his injury making him play pathetically then he should've been shut down for the year a long time ago. |

I think that happened a couple of times....
We played Kane with broken ribs when he probably shouldnt have been playing
We're playing D-low on Eichels wing now because we only have 2 callups left until the end of the season.
we're tight against the cap. which is pretty crappy considering where we're at in the standings.
We were even sending AHL'ers down between games this year to save money!

Anjelica Huston was so damn spot-on with that depiction of a WNY mother she should STILL be getting the academy Award for that role.

To be fair, the team has noticeably given up pretty much right when those numbers showed up. Colorado and Arizona were a testament to this team's willingness to dominate or go through the motions....
They've chosen to go through the motions. I think Lehner has been hung out to dry a lot this season and he's made some incredible saves at a high rate. Those numbers are more reflective of overall team effort than Lehner's abilities. You're allowed to have bad games as a goalie but in none of those games has the team in front of him stepped up and won it. |

Agree, I also said the only reason he's not is because he's a UFA, and a guy out for the year has a hell of a lot more questions than a guy who toughed it out even if he was atrocious. |

Yes, it was definitely to save money, but most teams do it, and it wasn't really because it would put us over the cap, but there are bonuses to think about, Jack should be meeting some of his, Sam too even though he hasn't been lighting it up recently. And you want to have money for a "what if" scenario that someone WAS willing to trade a defenseman during the season.
Vegas will be granted a 48 hour window prior to the draft to sign any pending free agent (RFA or UFA, one per team) that was left unprotected. If a team loses a player to Vegas during this signing window they will not have a player selected from their roster during this draft. - https://en.wikipedia.org/.../2017_NHL_Expansion_Draft
Edit: Oops, forgot to say Ku-li-kov, Ku-li-kov! Vegas should sign him, that way we won't lose anyone. They're not taking Bogo, so (frank)ing forget about it. |

Agree. But it's common sense. We allow the most shots in the league. That's just unacceptable. |

I can't even believe we lead the league in shots, since so many of them are high percentage chances.
You would think those extra shots would be coming from the perimeter.
