8-7 Flyers. Sabres up 7-0 going into the 3rd - Simple
That wouldn't be "Parking the Bus".
That would be "Turning the Bus in at the Impound Lot". |

GMTM - SABRES 89
That's interesting, I figured Pegula would be upset with not being able to sell any assets on deadline day. I hope if and when he does move on from Murray, he already has a winning GM line. No interim garbage, and no we settled on this guy because he was the best available at the time, like what GMTM did with Disco. |

Any ideas in mind for an available, winning pedigree GM who would be willing to go to the Sabres? |

IMO Murray should get until next season's end.
It will give him 4 drafts, 5 deadlines, 4 off-seasons.
If we aren't contenders next year, something isn't right. |

would love to see Jack just go off this game, get a hatty and 2 or 3 helpers. he'd probably demand a trade afterwards though. |

Where did that mentality shift come from?
I could be incorrect, but I thought I remembered you wanting him gone a while ago. |

I don't like him, and think he kind of sucks. But in reality, you need to give a GM of a rebuilding team 4 full seasons.
However...... with the moves he's made via trade and FA, with Jack already being a superstar, we need to be contenders next year. Like top 3 in division threatening to win rounds next year. |

I don't know about available, but I'm talking about Pegula just throwing a heap load of cash at a known hall of fame winner, someone like Stan Bowman, to come in and run things properly for once. |

That's basically expecting a miracle, especially out of this group. |

He gave this right up when he went (lame)duck hunting with the surplus of assets he had.
Bold move sure, but when you come up empty you have to be prepared to pay the price. Next.
Edit: @empty is a reference to the state of the team not specific acquisitions. Im quite well aware that O'reilly is in fact good |

Miracle or not, you can't waste 3 years of ROR and Kane's prime, when you traded a bunch for them. You also can't waste 2 years of Okposo who will be 30 next year.
The timeline has to make sense. |

Oh, I agree with all this, but, I don't see it happening. I can't see how GMTM is going to get 4 Competent NHL Defensemen on this team next season in place of Kuli/Bogo/Gorges/Franson. That's basically what they need in order to make this work. |

Except this is where it went wrong for him
The years they were supposed to be amassing picks and prospects, he dealt them all. And now we have to rely on lesser picks and prospects to fill these areas of need.
Know how it's supposed to be horse then cart? The (frank)ing genius bought a pumpkin |

That was highly reliant on us competing for a playoff spot all season this year, regardless of injuries.
Our goalies have been top-10 in Sv% all season. When Jack came back, our GPG average went up by about 1, but so did our GAA as well.
So sick of hearing all these excuses. Pittsburgh had Crosby and Malkin out, I think even overlapping at one point, for the better part of 3 seasons and still were competitive and made the playoffs and they supposedly had no depth during those years.
LA Kings lose arguably their most important player this season, aren't scoring much and rode PETER BUDAJ to career numbers in shutouts, Sv% and GAA.
We lost Eichel and Kane. News flash, we aren't a very good team with or without them and them being here has not attributed to a better team, only off-set some stats.
Next year, we're chasing 8th place most of the season, IMO. We have Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Washington, Columbus, NY Rangers, all ahead of us now and probably next year and Detroit missing the playoffs for the first time like, ever this season.
Tampa Bay, this year, despite losing Stamkos most of the year and having sub-par goaltending, have still hovered around 8th.
Boston, Florida, NY Islanders, New Jersey and Carolina. Are we better than any of them going into next year? Maybe Boston and New Jersey. But Carolina is a very young team and if one falls, another climbs.
I think we're most likely hoovering between 10th and 6th most of next season. At best, a Wild Card spot and 90 pts on the season. And that's without injuries factored in.
I expected us at 85 pts this season and a solid finish just outside the playoffs but a competitive and fun to watch team. I got none of that. |

If they didn't make any of the moves they made, how close to being contenders would they have been this year and next year?
I'm not saying they don't stink now, but they would have been going on 4 straight years of sucking at this point. |

Unless you have a crystal ball, there's no way to know that.
The picture will be quite clear by sometime in July regarding next season. |
