Which is obviously completely wrong, but that article to me is completely garbage. Its just some kid trying to get people to read his poopty article. It wouldn't surprise me if the entire thing was fabricated.

Who would you rather hang out with? I forgot you're a rent a cop
- VanHockeyGuy

I have hung out with most of the players. Bieksa and Horvat would be my choice. Haven't met EG but he seems like a cool guy

Didn't seem to hurt the Oilers in the 80's who won 5 cups half-pissed and on Cocaine pretty much every game day.
- LordHumungous

I attended an event where Bodger was one of the speakers and he told a story where him and Babych and a few other Kings went on a 3 month bender in the middle of the season

Don't know who Lee Chin is but if this is true this is a huge PR nightmare for the Canucks. Just when you thought, how much worse can it get? Next up TL & JB's spin on this, Cheers!

mynhltraderumors has some interesting quotes today from some NHL insiders. Worth the read.
- VanHockeyGuy

this is the quote that HB needs:

Dreger was asked if he’s heard anything regarding Desjardins’ future.

“No, I haven’t,” said Dreger. “But you know what’s interesting about that is I’ve actually had other teams – and I can’t be specific to the team or teams who have asked me – but I have been asked about Willie’s future and whether or not the sense is that Vancouver will go in a different direction. And the reason I’ve been asked is there are teams out there who see him as a prime candidate. He’s a respected coach from an NHL perspective.

You don't have a problem with players getting blasted the night before a game?

It doesn't matter if that article is BS or not, the fact it's rampant all over Twitter and catching the attention of some sports writers is not a good thing for PR.

yes i do.

i don't think banning alcohol as you said the day before a game is a good idea either. looking at the schedule, that pretty much means no drinking for the majority of the season.

these are things that should be policed in the dressing room by the coach as well as by the players themselves. players can be responsible and establish a culture around the team that lets them act as adults. when they abuse that leeway, there should be consequences to the individual.

when the frank did I say that? They are hopefully mature adults. They can have a beer or glass of wine the night before a game.

Meh, I say let them go wild. Have a few the night before and another in the morning to cut the hangover. Add in a little pregame nap after the morning skate and its a recipe for success

BEST scenario is Caps lose Cup to Sharks (1st rounder to Nucks) fire coach. Hire WD who was fired in April. Nucks hire Dave Pratt to coach Nucks team to worse record ever. Sedins, LE, Edler waive to get traded to Caps for draft picks and prospects. Caps win the Cup making all extra conditional picks 1st rounders for 5 years.

This right here makes me question the validity of the article. Management suggesting that their players go out and have 20 pints

Even in my booziest of days, there is no way I could throw back 20 pints

Having a bunch of beers vs snorting some coke will affect on ice performance in very different ways. Plus the Oilers had a monopoly on talent, they didn't all need to be at their best every night to win

Because it impacts their performance. They are paid millions of dollars. Don't drink before a game. The Sedin's, Bieksa, Burrows, Horvat etc. None of these guys drink the night before games. Virtanen and Kassian do. Notice a trend?
