I'd still take Patrick over Hischier because while Hischier might have a higher ceiling, I see him as a boom/bust player. Patrick is much more well-rounded and likely has a better shot at hitting his ceiling as a Matt Duchene/Ryan O'Reilly type 1C - DariusKnight
Hischier has a benefit of going straight to AHL though. With the type of boom/bust he is, the bust usually happens because teams rush these types into the NHL as they are seen as way too good for Juniors. This gives him a benefit to us. Patrick is the more sure NHLer, but has had injuries in every junior season so far. |

I find it funny that Nolan Patrick is somehow getting underrated leading up to the draft.. Hes going to be a great player. - ClarksonDavid
He will, I would just be worried about his injuries over the past 4 years. |

Dreger does spend lots of his time talking to front-office types around the league.
That's what this story is about—management from other teams that would be interested in hiring Willie if the Canucks let him go. We're hearing that Willie garners respect around the league, even if the fans dump all over him here in Vancouver.
Willie's running 50/50 in the poll so far. Is that the most support he's had all year? - Carol Schram
thanks for the response.
i can believe Dreger talks to people. I just don't believe he has any inside or useful information about the Canucks. He has shown himself to be the kind of guy who takes a locally reported story and then says the same thing on a national network without mentioning that it was reported locally already, imo. he gave some idiotic response when Luo first got here about how he was standing on his head every night to save the Nux... when in fact AV had the Canucks keeping the opposition to less than 22-23 shots a night. Luo was falling asleep cuz the Nux more than once kept the opposition to less than 20 shots on the night. it was total bullshiite that he fed the national audience and no one called that turd out on it.
Willie is a good interim coach until the Canucks have the pieces in place to make some real noise.
I have no issue with how he's developed some of the young guys, Chaput included. Horvat probably needed to come along slower than he did when Sutter got injured. I'm just glad he didn't get burned out and has come on gangbusters this season.

with markstrom hurting himself in the god damn superskills competition, I can see why we kept him. Management also has shown major interest in re-signing him, I get why they want to show good faith to him and keep him. - Codes1087
There was no offer on Miller. So don't know where you are getting they chose not to move him theory. |

I like those guys, Shorty is great and Garrett is a homer for entertainment purposes, but the intermission is bruuuutalll. Irfan is easily the worst interviewer I have seen. They need to do a big talent search regardless if they can simultaneously broadcast Shorty's voice on TV and radio - WhiteLie
Well now that both broadcasts are sportsnew properties, that may be what we will be seeing: simulcasts.

I'm less worried about the injuries, a lot of those injuries was because he grew faster than expected and he's not quite comfortable with it yet. At #1, you need the sure thing, because if you don't get it right you are screwed like the Oilers were with Yakupov (not saying Hischier is a Yakupov).
I see this draft as exactly the same as 2009 with the Hall/Seguin each being considered 1OA. Hall was the more sure thing, but Seguin had a higher ceiling. I just think if we should get 1OA we should go after the player who can get into the lineup now, because I think the Sedins or a Sedin (most likely Henrik) are probably going to be traded either at the draft or by TDL and we'll need another center to replace him who's ready to play and that's Patrick. |

It's funny how before the coaching change the Isles were bottom of the East and being told to sell for a rebuild again. Now they are in a wild card spot. Same players that couldn't hack it before. Interesting huh |

Not to sure. I was drunk. This year I'll be pacing myself. I went with a pack of zoo animals. |

Yeah i seen on twitter some videos of him, any talk hes coming across the pond next year? Maybe make the jump to SHL for a season? - ClarksonDavid
I think the goal would be to have him signed to an ELC and play in the AHL. |
