I just don't want where he's from to impact the decision process, and I think the Canucks let that influence their decision to take JV and not someone like Nylander or Ehlers.

Agreed, but I think some on here dismiss him because he is local. I lucked out last season following his junior team as I was intrigued by Morgan Geekie, have been following that team whenever I can.
Would like Rasmussen, Geekie or Juuso Valimaki, a defenseman, from Tri-City on the Canucks. Obviously it depends who is available when we pick.

Also, he is not just a Powerplay specialist like someone on here continually tries to suggest.

Given the discussion about Canuck coaching, you seemed to be indicating Vancouver with their same aging players might have a similar results had they pulled the trigger. The Sedin's are 36 and been top line all year, the only players over 35 on the Islanders are depth (Siedenberg and Chimera), not the same situation and would not have had the same impact

I am big fan of Shorty. Garrett ---- well, he is an entertainer first. We have been blessed with decades of great colour guys and his take is different.

The kid is 6'5" over 200 lbs. Has good hands, respected by his teammates and coaches alike.
Scored 15 of his 32 goals on power-play, is feisty when needed.

Nah... we don't want him because he isn't shiny enough for this fan base.

He may be done for season though, as he has been out several games with a wrist injury...BUST
