Agree to disagree.
Hell I hope it works out for them as a fan, or we are doing this dance for years.

I understand what your saying. It worked for the Pens. My thing is you never know when you'll be back in the playoffs. Look at the Sixers. They thought they were doing the right thing. But right now they have a guy who played 31 games in 3 years and another top pick who missed his first full year.

I am not saying they were wrong for doing what they did, especially in the NBA, but its not a guarantee to success. I think you always have to push to win.

It's must be really hard to find new ways to defend a poop product day after day after day. I find it amusing.

With Tampa also fighting for a spot there are just too many teamsfor the Flyers to beat out. Their goalie was better than ours last night and our 8M men were unable to come up with a big a goal....again
They will end up picking in that 10-12 area, draft a guy who will be ready in 3-4 years.

Reading those CV and PEB posts, you'd think the entire team was built around two dudes whose collective salary this year doesn't even break 2 million dollars.

lol, exactly

The lack of perspective and issue prioritization from some folks here is weird.

Rebuild. For one damn time to it fully. Accept your forward core is not good enough and the main piece is in decline.

Stop being too proud as an organization to accept you need to have some down years. This 'make the playoffs and win every game at all cost' philosophy is still around sadly.

I look to trade Simmonds and Schenn.

Or.... let's stay on the Leafs 2.0 path where mediocrity is the name of the game.

My thoughts on Varsity are well know. I think HC stays, but his decisions are more and more questionable.

I find it amusing that you believe hiding after wins, and crying like an entitled female dog after every loss makes you some kind of rebel or hero.

You seem quite concerned right now about the goalies low save percentages, and Couturier not getting to 40 points, and the Flyers not making the playoffs. If we go back 11 months, would we find a lot of happy and satisfied posts from you when the Flyers had the league's best save percentage, and Couturier had 39 points with one game left despite missing 18 games, and the Flyers had already qualified for the playoffs? Or would we just find that you were complaining vociferously about something else?

So you see the win at all cost mentality with this group?
- psuhockey

Is that what I said? I do think these guys want to win. I know they do. You can see it in how they carry themselves on and off the ice.

What I said is that they shouldnt just give up and "get a better pick". It doesnt work that way. These are professional athletes who are playing to win. Are they the best team? No. Are they a well constructed team, no not really. But from a management standpoint giving up on them is about the last thing you want to do. You wanna try to play with a winning mentality. Shoot for the moon and where ever you fall you fall. Dont just say, meh.. forget it.

Also, going from 8-12th in the draft really doesnt make a difference.

Hiding after wins. I never knew roll call was part of the Hockeybuzz criteria.
If I'm only around after losses I guess that would make me omni-present wouldn't it???

Do you believe the Flyers 3games ago were more concerned about making the playoffs or getting some ice time for the youth/bettering their draft position?
- flyer_nutter

The Flyers don't tank. Deal with it. That doesn't make it a poorly run organization. You still aren't considering other scenarios concerning the kids.

To me the goal should be to win a cup, and build a club in the view of that.

Not simply on 'making the playoffs'.

What's more valuable, a first round knockout? Or picking 7th instead of 12th and some more ice time for your youth.

For those that would say not much difference between 7 and 12, I'd point at the clubs current #1 dman.

Alas, next topic haha.

- flyer_nutter

The flaw in your thinking here is that you think the Flyers goal is making the playoffs, and not ultimately winning the Stanley Cup.

Making the playoffs and picking 12th hey?

- flyer_nutter

Yea, no way you can get an outstanding player for the future drafting 12th. Impossible.

Bellemare 20 consecutive games without a point.

Have a team that can't score, re-sign a player who can't score give him the A
Have a team that can't keep the puck out of the net, re-sign the goaltender with the worst save % in the NHL.

Sound, logical ways of improving the team. Brilliant.

- PLindbergh31

Thought he had an assist in buffalo. I get what your saying but I strongly believe neuvirth is expansion fodder and that was a big part of it

If they don't pick neuvirth. They are not going in with Lyon/neuvirth imo. I think Ryan Miller would be in here at worst

Absolutely. He said on stage to keep it coming that he feeds off it. He definitely pushes the envelope.
