I'm firmly in the corner that you need veterans to insulate the kids, you simply cannot have a lineup chalked full of youth, that's a disaster in the waiting. That said, Eriksson's contract is ridiculous for what he brings to the table, money wise that is; he made 8 million dollars in salary this season and he makes 8 million again next season.

in 4 years Erikson is a LNTC with several teams on it. Low actual salary with 6mil cap hit. Perfect trade for teams that have lots of cap room, but can't afford to fill it with actual money. Not a bad contract.

He was a free pick up. He might be a good fit for Bo and Sven. If he doesn't fit on roster in future then his reputation will garner interest by other hockey teams. With Sedins gone LE could waive to go to a contender who will send us a pick/prospect in return.
