Trade Tree......that's a good question. As a fan of his, (I want to believe) he's Chara 2.0 ........(in reality he might be Ballard 2.0). So to trade him, I would sell him on his potential......but from the outside looking in, he's a big rookie d...that's it. He's still a question mark.

Discipline should come down to a team issue if a player doesn't show up for games cause he went to play in the Olympics. Not to mention risking career and no contract if he gets injured.

Though if team allows then it's their loss for being down a star to compete. Will complicate how insurance and contract would work.

But not sure if NHL would want to try to impose any fines or suspension. Don't believe it's covered under CBA.

Other issues could come up. Like the home team complains that less tickets are sold to a game because Caps, as visiting team, is less of a draw without Ovie. Compound that with several stars doing it and it could snowball.

It can be a PR nightmare. Whatever way it goes.

A CBA can put in pre-requisitues for member qualification. Can it be challenged? Perhaps, depending on discrimination factors etc. But not sure the prior ruling is fact applicable precedent for a CBA rule.
