I know it's a cop-out, but i think the strategy will be BPA.
Similar to last year, when PLD and the top forwards were taken, JB selected OJ.
If the top fwds are gone when JB picks this year, i wouldn't be surprised if he takes a D again. Similarly, if a top fwd is still available, we grab him. - dbot
I don't think drafting OJ was taking the BPA ...he wasn't even the top D in many scouts lists ...he was the guy benning wanted so he took him

Don't know where you got that from but sure. Benning knew that D is needed sooner then later.
So I guess i'm just disturbing poop by saying this. I just say whatever to it and it doesn't mean a lot from a professional stand point. ANYWAYS!
I got my father tickets to Flames vs Jets on Saturday. He's a flames fan.
Anyways, asked him how the game was and he said to me "the best player Calgary has is that Tkachuk kid." "He's going to be a real good player"
OJ better step it up and help Van win a cup. - manvanfan
Tkachuk has been beyond good this year ...no one could have projected this ....it's easy to critique not picking him but isn't really fair at this point
Man... you guys were seriously undermanned. I mean, it's not like the Pens are missing: Letang, Hornqvist, Hagelin, Cullen, Rust, Maatta and had to only dress 11 forward last second, two being call-ups and two call-ups on defense... Geez.
Also, here's my thought on that first goal being disallowed. I had a long conversation about this because I initially thought it should have been allowed. I promise I'm totally being non-homer.
1) Being in the crease BEFORE the puck which is a big part of this rule.
2) The "push" is subjective. He wasn't "pushed" until after the puck went through Murray's pads. They entered the crease together without being forced there.
#2 is the point people will argue back and forth, but I had two friends (a philly and rangers fan, so clearly bias TOWARD the Pens) and they both said he was not pushed in the crease. He was heading right for it. - Rinosaur

Got it from TV, podcasts, etc ....no one is saying it was a bad pick or the wrong pick ...just that they could have picked a couple different D if they wanted one ...not exactly BPA approach
We don't have a Crosby, or a Malkin, or a Kessel. - Retinalz
I know you don't. I don't mean this as a dig, but the Pens are by far the better team even when BOTH teams are 100% healthy. My point is using that undermanned excuse is silly when the Pens, regardless of Sid or Geno, are missing major players.

when u have generational players in the line up still.. yes we will use that as an excuse

Without Sid or Malkin or Letang the teams are similar I'd say. But you have those 3 so that is a major factor.
